CID’s Daya forays into Marathi filmdom with ‘#GaramKitali’!

The pairing of new actors with the well known Hindi as well as #SouthCinema actors has always been an eye-catcher in Marathi films. Today, the popularity of Marathi films has spread so far that along with Hindi, actors from southern cinestars have also started working in Marathi. The series ‘#CID’ became the biggest crime show in the television world, in which another character became very popular along with #ACPPradyumna. The name of that character is #Daya. Actor #DayanandShetty, popularly known as Daya, is also making his Marathi debut. Daya will be seen in an important role in the Marathi film ‘#GaramKitali’ which has just started shooting.

The movie ‘Garam Kitali’ is being produced under the banner of Ganesh Rock Entertainment and co-produced by Chitrasen Nahak and Rajesh. The shooting of the film has started immediately after the first clap of the movie. Story, screenplay and dialogues are all being directed by Raj Paithankar. The dialogue ‘Daya Darwaza Tod Do …’ from the ‘CID’ series has been memorized by everyone from children to seniors. Now the Marathi audience will get to see Daya in their mother tongue film. Daya has also worked in many commercials to date. He has also won awards as a Theatre Artist. He has won the Best Actor award for his role in the Tulu language play, ‘Secret’. The role of a CID officer in the ‘CID’ series in 1998 turned out to be a turning point in Daya’s career. The dialogue in this series, ‘Jab Daya ka ek haath padta hai, toh muh ke andar daanto se paino bajne lagta hai…’ is also very loud. The same Daya will now come in front of Marathi fans with ‘Garam Kitali’.

The secret of what kind of role Daya will play in ‘Garam Kitali’ is still a mystery. It is said that the curtain will rise on this mystery when the time comes. In this movie long with Daya, Aditya Paithankar and Shraddha Mahajan are the new duo and Vijay Patkar, Anshuman Vichare, Kamlesh Sawant, Visakha Subhedar, Manisha Paithankar, Viraj Godkar, Pallavi Patil and other actors will be seen. The lyrics are written by Raj Paithankar and the music is composed by Kiran and Raj. Aniket K. Cinematographer, Yogesh Mahajan is the Creative Director of this movie. Kapil Chandan is the executive producer of the film and Devdutt Raut and Nandu Moharkar are the art directors.

Talented actress Parul Yadav who always stand against inequality or injustice happen with any women shared some inspirational message on her social media platforms.

“I still remember as if it was of local celebration without the rampant commercialisation you see these days. As soon as the truck with our local Ganpati was loaded and ready to move I joined all the boys from our building and clambered upon top of the cab. Having gotten there ahead of all the boys I found the best spot bang in the center and was waiting with bated breath for the exciting journey to the beach!

Imagine the shock when I was rudely ordered off the truck by the guys around. Just like that. No reason ascribed. I looked around me and found boys of my age all around me and no one was asking them to get off. I realised that I was being ‘offloaded’ because ‘girls weren’t allowed’ and it was instinctively unacceptable to me that I was being held to a different standard. So I refused to climb down till someone went and fetched my Dad. He tried to convince me that it was unsafe but when I insisted that I should be allowed to sit there if the boys were allowed, he relented. And I had my first and last journey on top of a truck’s cab!! And my first moment of standing my ground against gender based discrimination.

For me, #SarahGrimke said it perfectly – “I ask no favour for my sex.. all I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks”..
