Written and directed by #SubodhKhanolkar, and produced by Ocean Films in association with Zee Studios, ‘Dashavatar’ has seen an overwhelming response for three consecutive weeks. The film is not only performing strongly in India but also internationally, with over 100 shows in the United States and screenings in Australia, Japan, Germany, and Gulf countries — proudly waving the Marathi flag across the globe.

The film’s success has brought renewed enthusiasm to the Marathi film industry. After Ganeshotsav, theatres celebrated their own “Diwali” thanks to ‘Dashavatar’. In fact, the film has revived many closed theatres across the Konkan region, helping them earn an entire year’s revenue through this single blockbuster. Container theatres have even carried ‘Dashavatar’ to remote villages, taking cinema directly to the people.

Beyond its box office success, ‘Dashavatar’ has sparked widespread discussion and admiration across Marathi cinema, theatre, and cultural circles. It has also played a vital role in rejuvenating the Marathi film industry, which had been facing a period of stagnation. Moreover, the film has reignited interest in the traditional Dashavatari folk theatre art form — once confined to Konkan and Goa — leading to growing demand for performances in Pune and Mumbai.

‘Dashavatar’ has not only made a mark commercially but also created a social and cultural movement. Inspired by the film, people from Konkan have become more proactive in preserving their land, sacred groves, and natural environment. They’ve also shown increased awareness toward the protection of Konkan’s ancient rock carvings. In fact, on September 27, 2025 (World Tourism Day), MTDC signed a memorandum of understanding with Nisargyatri Sanstha, Ratnagiri for the preservation, promotion, and awareness of these prehistoric rock carvings — a significant step toward heritage conservation.

The positive transformations in Marathi cinema, the revival of the Dashavatari folk art, and the growing consciousness toward environment and heritage preservation — all stand as the true triumph of ‘Dashavatar’.

The post ‘Dashavatar’ Continues Its ‘Housefull’ Run in the Fourth Week! first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

There has long been a complaint that Marathi films rarely get screens in Mumbai’s prime locations. Even if they do, they don’t last long. But Dashavatar has broken this pattern, running housefull shows for three consecutive weeks at iconic theatres like Maratha Mandir, Roxy, Sterling, Eros, Regal, Inox, Palladium PVR, Kasturba, and Milap. Normally dominated by Hindi, English, or Gujarati films, these venues have seen Marathi audiences turn out in huge numbers—alongside a surprising influx of non-Marathi viewers too. This, indeed, is a matter of pride for Marathi cinema.

Even more remarkable is the film’s phenomenal success in Konkan. Traditionally, films—even big-budget Bollywood releases—rarely see housefull shows in the region. But Dashavatar has rewritten the trend. In towns like Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Pen, Kankavli, Mahad, and Chiplun, every single theatre screening the film has seen an enthusiastic response. Rooted in themes of environment, nature, the people of Konkan, and the folk art of Dashavatar, the film has resonated so deeply with local audiences that many have expressed, “After a long time, we are watching a film that truly tells the story of our land and our art.”

The film has not only earned big at the box office but has also sparked a movement among the people. In Konkan, locals are now taking greater initiative to protect land, sacred groves, and nature. Awareness about rock carvings and their preservation has grown. The folk art form of Dashavatar, which forms the foundation of the film, and the artists who perform it, have gained newfound recognition and revival. By breaking the lull in Marathi cinema, Dashavatar has become a landmark film showcasing the strength and power of Marathi storytelling.

Presented by Zee Studios and produced by Ocean Film Company and Ocean Art House, the film is written and directed by Subodh Khanolkar. Producers include Sujay Hande, Omkar Kate, Ashok Hande, Aditya Joshi, Nitin Sahasrabuddhe, Mrunal Sahasrabuddhe, Sanjay Dubey, and Vinayak Joshi, with Ajit Bhure as the creative producer. The stellar cast features Dilip Prabhavalkar, Siddharth Menon, Priyadarshini Indalkar, Mahesh Manjrekar, Bharat Jadhav, Vijay Kenkare, Sunil Tawde, Ravi Kale, Lokesh Mittal, Abhinay Berde, and Aarti Wadagbalkar in significant roles.

Buzz around the film had already begun well before its release. The curiosity sparked by the posters was further fueled by the teaser, and the trailer pushed excitement to its peak. That anticipation translated into numbers at the box office: Dashavatar opened across 325 screens with 600 shows, which grew to 800 shows on Saturday and 975 on Sunday — almost all of them housefull.

Through Dashavatar, audiences are treated to a vibrant showcase of Konkan’s rich traditions, folk art, and cultural heritage. The gripping storyline, coupled with powerful performances, has kept viewers thoroughly engaged. Stunning visuals, soulful music, and the grand scale of direction have added to the film’s strength, making it a complete cinematic experience.

Director and producer Subodh Khanolkar expressed his joy, saying, “The response to Dashavatar feels like a dream come true. Audiences have embraced not only the story of Konkan’s art and culture but also the message of environmental preservation woven into the film. This proves once again that when a story is told with honesty, audiences welcome it wholeheartedly. Every bit of hard work has been worth it.”

Bhavesh Janvalekar, Business Head of Zee Studios Marathi, added, “The discerning Marathi audience has always stood firmly behind quality cinema. Dashavatar is receiving fantastic response not only in Mumbai and Pune but across Maharashtra. Remarkably, it is also being celebrated in Belgaum, Bengaluru, Indore, Hyderabad, and Goa. We believe the film will once again reaffirm the strength and influence of Marathi cinema. On behalf of Zee Studios, I extend heartfelt gratitude to the audience for this unprecedented response.”

With its breathtaking scale, striking visuals, and powerful storytelling, Dashavatar is drawing viewers back to theatres repeatedly. The film is already being hailed as a milestone in Marathi cinema — not only ruling the box office but also capturing the hearts of audiences. The enthusiastic response also underlines how theatre owners are more inclined to extend and prioritize Marathi films when audiences turn up in such strong numbers.
