It’s been a whirlwind couple of months for the actress who after the series ‘Pitchers 2’ showcased her potential on the big screen with ‘Lakadbaggha’ that highlights underground illegal animal trade. Ridhi has been winning praise for her role in the film and after the positive reception and a noteworthy movie debut, the actress penned a heartfelt note on social media.

Taking to her social media to talk about her first film, Ridhi said, “‘Ridhi it’s your first film, how does it feel ?’ And I always ask myself wow Ridhi how does it feel to be asked this question?! To see myself on the big screen, to hear my voice coming out of those speakers gave me a feeling that still hasn’t sunk in. I am very hard on myself and I take too long to celebrate my victories. From the outside it looks like a victory. For me it’s a push to do more and do better next time. Yet the victory is personal. I guess so is the celebration. I feel blessed. I feel the power of manifestation. I feel like my angels and my soul guides must be celebrating for me right now. Because this journey of mine is only between me and them. I live for experiences. I live for the moment. And I feel utterly grateful to the entire team of Lakadbaggha helmed by @theanshumanjha @first_ray_films I am so happy to be a part of and to support them. In a world where business rules cinema I want to be a part of cinema in that business. And to do a film for the love of something bigger than me. Animals. Humanity. I couldn’t have asked for a better first film. Our film is being loved and appreciated by audiences, critics, animals lovers or not. And I want to ask you all to go see my first film in the theatre and perhaps make my victory your own by seeing one of your own making it on the big screen.”

Adding a special mention of all the support she received from the world of television she said, “I’m already grateful for the army of loyal and loving supporters Television has given me. There’s seriously no one like you. The love you have given me for so many years has got me to the big screen. It’s you who’s words pushed me to keep going on days and months when I felt I didn’t belong to the ‘business’ , your belief in my art has kept me going and got me here and as I have always said your love is the wind beneath my wings. Excited about this new phase in her career Ridhi added, “It’s exciting to have reached where I am right now. And I’m excited for the road ahead. Many more lives to live. ‘Musical’ cast of ‘The Married Woman’!

‘Everyone, i.e. #MonicaDogra, #ImaadShah, #SuhaasAhuja, was a musician on set and I was the one who kept singing throughout’, reveals #RidhiDogra about her co-stars of the popular show #TheMarriedWoman.

Ridhi Dogra had a whale of a time working on ALTBalaji’s successful show ‘The Married Woman’. She will always cherish the memories associated with the show and share screen space with her talented co-stars Monica Dogra, Imaad Shah, Suhaas Ahuja and others.

Post the show’s humongous success, the viewers were recently bestowed upon with a one-of-a-kind YouTube premiere of a musical rendezvous called ‘Safarnama’. As part of Safarnama, host Mihir Joshi chatted with Ridhi while showcasing the beautiful renditions of the original sound tracks of the show, while speaking at length about the show and its music.

Sharing an interesting anecdote about the show and it’s soulful music, Ridhi said, “Monica (Dogra) is a musician, Imaad (Shah) is a musician, Suhaas (Ahuja) has his rock-band, and he is a musician too, so that way everyone was a musician on set and I was the one who kept singing throughout! They all have such beautiful and distinct voices.”

Speaking about the music of the show and the beautiful covers created by various talented singers, Ridhi adds, “I love the music of the show, and I feel thrilled that I have a show which has a fantastic soundtrack. When the music of ‘The Married Woman’ was launched across all apps, I couldn’t believe my character Aastha was mentioned on the cover of the songs. I feel humbled and grateful. I have been tripping on the music of the show – be it ‘Khwabon Ka Aashiyaan’ which is my favourite song, since it’s a happy song and also, ‘Dil Ki Shaakh’, which is a sweet romantic song with so much love and innocence. The covers are beautiful. They all have such beautiful and distinct voices.”

Initially Ridhi Dogra was not interested in ‘The Married Woman’!

#RidhiDogra, who is glowing with all the accolades for her dazzling performance as the central character – #Astha in #ALTBalaji’s most talked-about-show ‘#TheMarriedWoman’, had initially refused the offer. Yes, you read it right!

In a recent interview, the show’s producer and Content Czarina – Ekta Kapoor revealed, “The first time I sent the script of ‘The Married Woman’ to Ridhi, she told me that she doesn’t want to do the show since it talks about a same-sex relationship and I am very scared on how it portrays women. I told her that I am personally involved in this show. Then the show’s director, Sahir Raza, came into the picture, and he is one of the most interesting men I have met, he is a feminist and comes from a great lineage. He asked me how will we normalize two women if we don’t show them kissing, hugging, or holding each other. I told him that it should not look sleazy since I have made this show from the heart, and I want it to come out real, and he said leave it to me. The idea was to normalize it on the one hand and the other not make it provocative for men or for anybody to find it exciting in a way that is not relatable.”

On her part, Ridhi Dogra added, “I think I had read the first draft of the show, which we were not supposed to since that wasn’t the final one. The sensitivity that all of them had, including Ekta and the show’s creative team, came on board had put me at ease. I met Sahir after lockdown, and we spoke about the show and our respective characters and the world that they were going to create. There was a lot of responsibility, and everything happened with a sensitivity that I don’t think there came a day when I doubted my decision to be part of the show after that. I was excited that a bunch of really creative people, have got together to make this beautiful show, and not letting anything go off-tone, even during rehearsals. So I think it’s all of us coming together and kudos to Ekta Kapoor for bringing us together!”

Astha is the perfect wife, daughter, mother, and teacher. She never strays from the path shown to her by society and family. It inhibits her from attaining her full potential in her career, as a person, and as a woman. For the ‘The Married Woman’ look, Ridhi Dogra took inspiration from ‘these’ women

Besides her effortless performance as Astha in ALTBalaji’s recently launched web series, ‘The Married Woman’, Ridhi Dogra is also being appreciated by the audience and especially her fans for her inspiring look in the show.

Ridhi, who portrays the lead character of Astha in the popular show, represents the look of women from the 90s. While initially, it all seemed a little difficult for the creative team to get the authentic look for Ridhi’s character, the talented actress thought of taking some inspiration from one of her close-knit family members.

Spilling beans on her look in the show, Ridhi reveals, “When we were researching for my look, I always had my family members including my mother, grandmother, and maasi as reference points since they were all ladies of the early 90s. They are exactly the women shown in the series as far as their physical appearance is concerned. When the creative team was sourcing to check the authentic looks of the women of the 90s, it was all very Bollywood. I realized that this is not how I remember women in the 90s to be.”

“I told my mother to find old pictures of my grandmother and herself. So, I created a look of my own and presented it to the team and, they were very happy. We went with different looks, which were similar to my naani. I remember during the look test, we got into the look of a chiffon saree with a sleeveless blouse, simple mangalsutra, stone chain in the neck, and a bindi. I put that picture of mine on our family group, and everybody loved it. I told my naani that this is my tribute to her, and every one replied, saying that I look like my naani. For me, that was like a personal victory, and I thought my look is authentic. It was really special that I could do that.” Ridhi adds.
