Producer and environmentalist Pragya Kapoor backed ‘#Azaad’, a recently released action-adventure film. Known for conscious living and working towards achieving a healthier tomorrow, Pragya Kapoor marked #WorldEnvironmentDay by giving a peek into the making of ‘Azaad’, and how they ensured to make it a zero-waste film shoot.

Pragya Kapoor delved into the making of the film’s set and shared, “How can you make a film set more sustainable, and how can you make people more aware and more conscious about their choices? The backend team was really good and really attentive. They were making sure that everything goes for recycling and repurposing rather than to the landfills. I think that the team that really had to step up was the art department, following the vision of trying to make this film as sustainable as possible.”

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DKgXmjCIv-X/?igsh=MWIwZzJnd2RheHFtdg==

Expanding Pragya’s vision about zero wastage on film sets, a film team member added, “Pragya was very clear from the beginning of the film – Let’s not do any wastage and let’s not use any materials which can harm the environment.”

Throughout the shoot, Azaad has made significant contributions towards saving the environment. 840 kg of vegetable peels and food materials were fed to stray animals in Bhopal. 784 kg of surplus food was distributed to people in nearby villages, and 1500 kg of leftover food was sent to a municipal composting plant in Bhopal. 3883.5 kg of organic waste was sent for composting in Jaipur, 589.8 kg of recyclables were sent to a recycling facility in Jaipur. 44780.8 litres of water was saved, 1267.64 kg CO2-eq emission, 1,387 litres of energy equivalent of petrol was saved. Besides this, they used materials like stones, sand, and grass, which are easily available and can wash off naturally.

Pragya Kapoor, an avid environmentalist, has ensured to do her bit in improving the environment, raising awareness about sustainability, all while inspiring everyone to follow suit. Meanwhile, Azaad marked the debut of Rasha Thadani and Aaman Devgn, and was directed by Abhishek Kapoor and produced by Pragya Kapoor and Ronnie Screwvala.

Social organisation #GrowTreescom has been working for over 12 years to repair and replenish ecosystems across India and this year reached a massive milestone of over 10 million trees. On June 5, to mark the 50th anniversary of #WorldEnvironmentDay, they honoured celebrated actors #KajalAggarwal and #PankajTripathi with tree plantation drives in Pench Tiger Reserve, Seoni (Madhya Pradesh) and Delhi.

Bikrant Tiwary, CEO of Grow-Trees.com, says, “ We planted a forest and dedicated it to Pankaj Tripathi in the periphery of Pench Tiger Reserve, Ramtek, Maharashtra) after successfully planting over 300,000 trees in the adjoining villages of Kanha and Pench National Park. Our Green Ambassador Pankaj Tripathi has been following our work for a long time and also has a strong personal connection with the environment. Through this initiative, we also hope to highlight the fragmentation threat in the Kanha-Pench Corridor and to facilitate tiger movement between Kanha and Pench Tiger Reserves. We also planted a park in Delhi to honour Kajal Aggarwal and to bring attention to the capital’s disrupted urban ecosystem where air pollution levels have reached alarming proportions. We planted Neem (Azadirachta indica), Kadamb (Neolamarckia cadamba), Amaltas (Cassia fistula), Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), Shisham (Dalbergia sissoo), Jamun (Syzygium cumini L.), Pilkhan (Ficus virens) trees across Delhi and these will work as carbon sinks, expand the habitat for indigenous wildlife species and also improve the overall air quality.”

Pankaj Tripathi says, “I feel so grateful that hundreds of these trees will help repair the fragmented corridors in the Pench Tiger Reserve, especially because without linkages, tiger populations are isolated within individual tiger reserves and face the risk of extinction. It was very interesting to find out that Grow-Trees.com also helps rural communities by not just engaging them in plantation efforts but also by preventing animal-human confrontations via the expansion of tiger habitats. The plantation of indigenous, local species like drumsticks, custard apple, neem, amla, shisham, jamun, also helps counter the current practice of monoculture plantation and increases biodiversity in Pench. I believe, a single seed can start a forest and one positive intention can spark a collective movement and I request all nature lovers to join Grow-Trees.com in donating and planting trees.”

Kajal Aggarwal adds, ” This year’s theme for World Environment Day reminded us that we have ‘Only One Earth’ and we must do everything possible to protect it. I am honoured that Grow-Trees.com has recognised my love for trees and nature, chosen me as their Green Ambassador and planted in my name, a garden of trees in Delhi. I resonate with their mission of planting trees in cities, around wildlife sanctuaries, tribal belts and just about any area where ecological balance and biodiversity have been disturbed. I hope more people will join Grow-Trees.com to expand India’s green cover and plant trees whenever and wherever possible to not only nourish the earth but also generate livelihood opportunities for rural and tribal communities. You could also dedicate trees to your loved ones on special occasions.”

Bikrant concludes, “ I recently read U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres’ message for World Environment Day where he said that we are asking too much of our planet to maintain ways of life that are unsustainable. He added that it is vital to safeguard the richness and diversity of life on Earth, its ecosystems and its finite resources. This is our core mission at Grow-Trees.com, and for us every day is World Environment Day. We will continue to fight for our planet in the only manner we know. By planting more and more trees.”

The post Grow-Trees.com plants trees in honour of Green Ambassadors Pankaj Tripathi and Kajal Aggarwal! first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

If #MotherNature and our environment are in good shape, then human civilization, even the flora and fauna will be healthy. #WorldEnvironmentDay observed on June 5 worldwide creates awareness around the cause. It also highlights our responsibilities towards protecting our environment. Celebrities talk about how one can keep the environment clean and pollution-free and what they have been doing on a regular basis for the same. Read on:

Somy Ali : Recycle! Recycle! and Recycle! Educate your friends in a non condescending manner to care about our environment before it is completely destroyed. Which is the direction it’s heading in if all of us globally don’t step up and make some radical changes. Something as small as separating glass from plastic or using LED bulbs. It’s not rocket science really. Small changes add up to saving our planet. All of the above actually. I drive a hybrid car and never have the water running while brushing my teeth. I am majorly into gardening and have a balcony filled with plants as well as with indoor plants. I recycle and in my spare time I team up with friends and we go clean up the beaches around our neighborhoods to get rid of the litter. We then recycle it and encourage bystanders to join us. It takes a village and education. We can all do our part and make our environment better for generations to come.

Sudhanshu Pandey : Well, to keep our environment clean and pollution free we have to always make efforts as individuals like yourself or individuals from family may be your kids, parents, wife, brother, sister, whoever, everybody needs to be conscious of the fact that we all need to personally make efforts to keep our environment clean. We must ensure that when we put our garbage outside our house, we put wet and dry garbage separately. Whenever we get a chance we must plant trees. Even if you plant one tree that is your contribution towards the environment and other than this we make a constant effort to minimise the consumption of electricity. In spite of the fact that my house is pretty large in size and there’s a lot of consumption that is required, we try to minimize the consumption. We switch on lights and fans only when it is required. Also as far as water usage is concerned, we make sure while we are taking shower, we switch on the showers when we really require it and not keep it open the whole time. Same rule applies when we are washing our hands or brushing our teeth. These little contributions make a lot of difference.

Sagar Parekh : I have brought my usage of plastic to a minimum and now I have started using brass and copper bottles wherever I go, including shoots. I believe they are one of the easiest, durable and are environmentally-friendly alternatives one can turn to in order to help preserve the environment. The basic things like switching off lights and not wasting even a single drop of water have become my daily habits now. I have understood that until and unless we don’t make them our daily habits we won’t be able to do our bit for the environment. It takes time, but once it happens it is oddly satisfying. I don’t use the AC often but when I do I keep it at a lower temperature. It’s a habit I have developed. While I am doing my bit to preserve nature’s resources, I believe it is imperative for each individual to also contribute to making this planet a better, safer and healthier place for each living being to exist.

Arun Mandola : I do not throw garbage on the road or outside. I feel every citizen in India does not throw garbage outside then 80% our problem will be solved. Water wastage is severely prohibited in my home, even the remaining waste water from RO used. Saving water is a must. We are anyway looking at a severe water crisis, so if we don’t mend our ways now, we are in grave danger.

Samyukta Singh : Mother Nature has given us so much beauty, purity and positivity. It’s sad how we have been abusing these gifts. I like to think of myself as nature’s child. I call myself that always because I feel most alive when I’m in the bare arms of the beauty and serenity of nature that God has given us for free. I try my best not to waste water. During Covid the only 2 things I did was plant saplings and cook. I learned how different seeds need to be nurtured and watered. I have a cute little garden now on my balcony and every day when I need positivity I go there and just breathe. We make it a point to make sure our garbage is hygienically disposed of at home and even from my restaurant every day. I have climbed mountains and glaciers all along and trust me there is nothing that fills my heart with so much joy like nature does. I do my best to preserve what I have and value it.

Ashoka Thackur : We try to minimize the consumption of electricity. We switch on fans and lights only when it is required. My balcony is now covered with lovely little plants, beautiful flowers. Also usage of water is controlled. We make sure we are not wasting it, because water is very precious for all of us. I know the value of water since I come from Rajasthan.

Sunidee Chauhan : We don’t throw garbage on the roads, cut trees, get our car’s PUC checked all the time and have been planting more trees. Spitting on the road should be prohibited. We also save energy by avoiding unnecessary usage of electricity and water. We have also limited the use of plastic and plastic products, reduced usage of chemicals and pesticides, and have also been recycling waste products. I do save energy by switching off the lights when it’s not required, avoiding unnecessary wastage of water. Everyday garbage is dumped in a proper place. My car’s PUC is checked all the time.

Balraj Syal : In Mumbai we cannot plant trees because it’s a concrete jungle, there is no place but whenever it’s possible in my hometown I try to plant trees there. And I make sure that we do not waste water and save it because every drop is precious. Also, we switch off the lights at our place if it is not required. So I make sure we minimize the consumption of electricity. I always drive petrol cars because I think diesel cars spread more pollution. I also make sure PUC is checked. We should reduce the consumption of AC because it produces heat and is not good for us or the environment.

Chitra Vakil Sharma : As a citizen, you can play the right role to control maximum pollution by following a few easy steps that start from your home. A few practical ways could be reducing the use of electricity, the usage of chemicals and pesticides, recycling the waste products, stop burning wood, consuming locally grown food, not waste water etc. It is necessary to dispose of bad household chemicals and pesticides that directly pollute the green climate. Instead you can make your own homemade solutions for cleaning purposes. There are many ‘green’ cleaning items accessible in the market that are harmless to the ecosystem.

The post Tele-Celebs share views on how to keep the environment clean and pollution-free! first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

It is more vital than ever for each of us to concentrate our efforts and act conscientiously in the interests of environmental conservation. On this #WorldEnvironmentDay, #&TV artists Shivya Pathania (Devi Parvati, Baal Shiv), Farhana Fatema (Shanti Mishra, Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha hai? ), Himani Shivpuri (Katori Amma, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Shubhangi Atre (Angoori Bhabi, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) talk about the importance of sustainability and conservation.

Shivya Pathania, aka Devi Parvati in &TV’s Baal Shiv, shares, “Climate change, air pollution, water scarcity are among the most burning issues globally. Practising sustainable living and doing our bit for the environment is something we all can do. Our small efforts can make a big difference. The simplest thing one can do is reduce energy consumption. Your electrical appliances consume resources when produced and energy during use. Always switch off and do not keep them on standby mode when not in use, and the same applies to your fans, lights and other pieces of equipment. Always look at energy labels before purchasing any appliance. It can go a long way in reducing your carbon footprint. One can also replace incandescent lamps and energy-saving lamps with LEDs – this will save you electricity and money in the long run. Also, to reduce waste, attempt to reuse products and items as many times as possible before discarding them”.

Shubhangi Atre, aka Angoori Bhabi in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “To be honest, I feel that transformative sustainability solutions must be accessible, inexpensive, and appealing for people to make better daily decisions. At home, I believe in growing my fruits and veggies. It lets one verify that I am not applying or inhaling any pesticides that pollute the water and air. It also helps to eliminate negativity in your home, and you will be able to converse with plants when you are alone. Growing and planting in the house bring me joy and satisfaction. I treat my plants as if they were my children, and I treat them as such. Similarly, I encourage everyone to plant a tree and adore it at home, work, or wherever else; you will feel great”.

Himani Shivpuri, aka Katori Amma in &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “Many of us are ignorant of how fortunate we are to have water available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Water scarcity is becoming a problem in many world regions, especially in landlocked countries. Imagine waiting for hours in a big line to fill a single bucket with water. Water conservation is a big challenge, particularly in a country as densely populated as ours. Let us not take the monsoon for granted now that it has here. Conserve as much water as possible. You can save water by irrigating your plants with the same water to wash your vegetables. Water can be conserved in a variety of ways. So that everyone benefits, because we all know that the world exists to meet everyone’s needs, not satisfy everyone’s greed”.

Farhana Fatema, aka Shanti Mishra in &TV’s Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai?, shares, “This World Environment Day, we must shift from harming the planet to healing it, and charity begins at home. Electricity consumption without thought is harmful to the environment in more ways than one! Whenever I am in my hometown, Uttar Pradesh, my family and I make sure that we utilize the least power possible. Simple efforts such as unplugging electronics when not in use, using natural light throughout the day, and using air conditioning rationally and intelligently could go a long way toward energy conservation and an effective cooling system. The good news is that the solutions and the technology exist and are increasingly affordable”.

Watch Baal Shiv at 8:00 pm, Aur Bhai Kya Chal Raha Hai? at 9:30 pm, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan at 10:00 pm, and Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai at 10:30 pm, airing every Monday to Friday only on &TV.

The post &TV artists urge to act conscientiously in the interests of environmental conservation! first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.

Celebrated on June 5 every year, the #WorldEnvironmentDay serves as a symbol towards the belief that we’ll rise as one to take care of our environment. #Filmfare has always highlighted and celebrated the on-screen endeavours of our film stars. But this month, we took a decision to applaud their efforts when it comes to environmental causes. Our stars have got a tremendous power to influence movements. Everything they do gets instantly talked about. Knowing that, they keep amplifying initiatives taken for the betterment of mother nature through their social media handles. Some take it forward in a bigger way by being part of the UN and other international bodies.

And some have started their own NGOs for the same. Stars have even adopted villages that bore the brunt of flood or famine and rehabilitated people by the thousands. Every little thing helps. Like banning water bottles on sets. Or distributing the excess food ordered during shoots to the needy. Most film units have a zero-wastage policy on their sets these days because the stars have started insisting on it.

They tom-tom about their achievements related to films but most chose to remain silent when it comes to charity. ‘I talk to my nephew and nieces about the small things they can do to protect the environment’, says #AbhishekVerma. Actor Abhishek Verma, who is currently seen as Shobhit in Sonali and #AmirJaffar’s “#AapkiNazronNeSamjha”, feels it’s important that children learn about the significance of a clean and green environment since a very young age. Speaking on the occasion of #WorldEnvironmentDay, which is observed on June 5, he said, “I always try my best to incorporate little things that I can to protect the environment.”

“Not just me, but whenever I’m around my nephew and nieces I make sure to talk about these things because it’s important to inculcate the importance of a healthy environment from a young age,” he added.

Talking about the measures he has been taking on an individual level, Abhishek said, “First of all I make sure I know what kind of waste I discard and I check what can be recycled. I’m really against plastic bottles, and they have a huge negative impact on the environment and can be very dangerous to our health.”

“At home we only use glass water bottles. I’ve also started using my bicycle if I have to go somewhere nearby. Planting trees is a wonderful idea, I think it’s one best activities that helps our environment and everyone must do it with their kids. These little things that we do on a daily basis can actually make a big difference for a better world tomorrow,” he concluded.

#AnilKapoor, #AmitBehl, #DrAneelKashiMurarka, #SaniyaSaiyad, #AshnoorKaur, #AnushaSrinivasanIyer kicked off BMC’S Be A Tree Parent #MEGAVrikshaCampaign on #WorldEnvironmentDay. This World Environment Day, the trees at K West Ward, Mumbai saw the BMC breathing new life into them. Asst Commissioner Mr. Vishvas Mote along with Make Earth Green Again MEGA Foundation has started ‘Be A Tree Parent – Adopt A Fallen Tree Pit’ Campaign to involve societies and residents to adopt one of the 348 fallen tree locations in K West Ward and re-plant the same with an identified fast growing tree species.

The move comes in the wake of Cyclone Tauktae’s damage to the green cover of Mumbai, with 2363 trees being uprooted and innumerable others losing their branches.

Involving celebs who expressed their desire to motivate the masses, Mote, along with Anusha Srinivasan Iyer, the founder of Make Earth Green Again Foundation and Shaan Lalwani of Vriksha Nursery, organised a simple yet effective tree plantation act at three locations in JVPD Scheme at the hands of actors Anil Kapoor, Amit Behl and Ashnoor Kaur, along with philanthropist Dr. Aneel Kashi Murarka and singer-entrepreneur Saniya Saiyad and Paramjit Singh Ghai of JVPD Coop Housing Association. The trees planted were the indigenous Nagkeshar, Sita Ashok, Tamhan and Undal trees.

Said Anil Kapoor, “Trees are a part of my life. The trees that fell due to the cyclone were right outside my house and I have adopted them. I am glad that Vishvas Mote ji, Asst Commissioner BMC has taken this initiative to replant the trees by garnering people’s support in coming forward to adopting the tree pits.”

Dr. Aneel Kashi Murarka assured that he would ensure green footprints, Ashnoor Kaur promised to personally plant at least a tree a month and spread the word among her fans, Amit Behl said that he would use the CINTAA social media handles to ensure that more trees are brought to life, safeguarding the city’s green cover. Saniya Saiyad confessed that she had already started planting more than five trees a day since she started off with the campaign.

Added Anusha Srinivasan Iyer, “We are glad that the BMC initiative is bringing forth public support from throughout the city and people are willing to adopt trees and be tree parents. We have citizen’s groups planting trees aided by the BMC. We have young kids like Haroon Ranvir Shorey and Advait Mote who are adopting trees and taking on the responsibility of becoming tree parents of today and guardians of the green of tomorrow. This spells the blooming future for the Tree Parent Project.”

The post Celebrities galore at the BMC’S ‘Be A Tree Parent MEGA Vriksha’ campaign! first appeared on Latest News, Breaking News, National News, World News, India News, Bollywood News, Business News, Politics News, Sports News, Entertainment News - CineBuster.
