The scholarship program is aimed at children of registered Hindi film industry workers and YCF Saathi members, many of whom play a vital role in the film industry’s ecosystem. YCF will be providing financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh per student and empower them to chase their life goals. The initiative enables deserving students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate education for the academic year 2026–27 across recognised institutions in India, with selection based on academic merit and financial need.

The program supports students across a wide range of professional and creative disciplines including Film Studies, Media & Communication, Animation & Visual Effects, Cinematography, Direction and Visual Arts. This year, it also introduces postgraduate courses across professional streams such as Engineering, Medical & Paramedical Sciences, Business & Management, Law, and Information Technology. The scholarship will cover tuition fees for eligible courses and is applicable across NAAC-accredited, AICTE-approved, or government-recognised institutions across India, helping reduce financial barriers and enabling access to higher education opportunities.

Insights from the YCF Saathi survey reveal that over 60% of film industry families face financial challenges in funding higher education. The scholarship aims to address this gap and create opportunities for long-term economic stability.

Selected candidates will undergo a structured, multi-stage evaluation process including screening and personalised interviews, and successful applicants will receive financial aid under this program, with fees disbursed directly to their respective institutions. Aditya Chopra, chair and MD of leading Indian studio Yash Raj Films (YRF), had launched the Saathi Card to provide health insurance, school fee allowance and food rations among other benefits to the industry’s daily wage earners and their families. The YCF also helped Hindi film workers to get free vaccinations during COVID-19. So far, YCF has touched the lives of over 15,000 people of the Hindi film fraternity.

Now, under the new Saathi initiative, the company has launched the ‘YCF Saathi App’ to expand its reach and support to its beneficiaries. As part of its 2024 action plan, the Saathi Program will benefit over 1500 new workers!

Shamim Bano Samir Shaikh, a film worker and a beneficiary of the program, said, “I faced a tragic accident in June that left me in a wheelchair. It was an unexpected and challenging phase of my life. YCF health card is nothing short of a lifeline. I am grateful and thankful to YCF for their Saathi Program initiative.”

The Yash Chopra Foundation aims to provide minimum basic support to its beneficiaries through the ‘Saathi Program’. The application form will be available from 1st to 20th February 2024 to apply for new entries for this year.
