Pawan Chopra: I feel society for what it was formed in ancient times has run out of its course. For me, their views are irrelevant. There is zero tolerance where there is no scope for love, friendship. Its false dogmatic society is full of false values and projecting themselves as holier than thou. For me it’s such a beautiful moment, in front of the beautiful Kedarnath temple and it makes me feel all about love, which is missing so much from our life. Any objection to it is by someone with a very rigid and closed mindset and nothing can be more laughable banning the phones for this incident. Why do we pray, why do we go to temples, it’s love for God and we come back feeling God has showered us with blessings and love and to celebrate that very love, if two people are proposing there in all the dignity and respect of the place , where is the harm? Let no one become the decision maker of what is moral, what is not and let no one consider temples to be their private property. Moral policing needs to be stopped immediately. Love is the most hated word these days.

Sheeba Akashdeep: I am not sure what’s objectionable in this. It is very sweet and it is a blend of tradition and progressive. They are appropriately dressed and wish to solemnise their special occasion in front of the almighty. What’s wrong with it exactly? Have people nothing better to do than to troll.

Romiit Raaj: You cannot do silly things and make reels or videos just for publicity and social media in holy places. People are losing their mind, you have to respect the Holy places and also other bhakts who are going to temples for praying. It’s so silly and wrong to see people going on their knees just for likes on Instagram.

Esha Gaur: The girl chose the right place to propose to him, but if the government also allows these things, then it becomes a nuisance. Every random person will reach there and do such things. So the government is doing its work. She did what she felt like, so everyone is right in their place. The government cannot support this thing and say, “Yes, you come and propose to each other here.” The least they can do is take action because they’re thinking and doing bigger things rather than focusing only on this. So they think it’s better to stop it. I’m not saying the girl did a wrong thing at all, but these things can be done in some other places as well. Even if you have to propose, there are a lot of places. Proposing is not wrong.

Puneet Dixit: There is nothing wrong in this. World exists because of love and in India Love has been made taboo. While people give the example of love of Shiv Parvati, Radha Krishna but on the other side it becomes a taboo, this is wrong. Of course, the government is over reacting saying, “Such things at holy places?” “Love like this?” . You get married in a temple but not propose? What nonsense.

Raghav Kansal: Well, I see no wrong in someone proposing in front of a God as we take our marriage oaths keeping God in our heads but if it’s for social media gain then I am completely against it as we, Indians are very sensitive about our Gods and wouldn’t want to include them in publicity.

“My experience of working in 200, my first OTT project, has been amazing. It was surreal to say it in one word. To play one of the deadliest serial killers and to actually be able to break so many stereotypes that ‘oh he is a funny guy, he is a YouTuber, don’t think he is going to be a great actor’ and getting 8/10 reviews made me content. I would not have asked for more,” says Sahil, who plays the role of Akku Yadav in 200.

The OTT boom is here to stay. And he feels the medium will take on a lot of other industries as well.

“The kind of content and concepts coming out is becoming a rage. People who have just delivered one web series as a hit, their careers are made. Earlier it used to happen when one has worked on big films but now we can only imagine what kind of penetration OTT has achieved. Thanks to all these networks and data packs, everything is now on OTT. OTT is not going to eat into any other industries be it TV, radio or big screen. All four of them will co-exist,” he adds.

OTT has exposed many to global content. “There are more performances to look at, more stories to connect to. There are beautiful things to learn and understand from foreign as well as Indian cinema. To be able to watch films which you had never seen before but now you know are readily available in just a click makes you feel so powerful and happy. Watching different kinds of work, sensibilities creating content in different parts of the world only opens our horizons, thought process and broadens your mind,” he explains.

There has been constant talk around the censorship on OTT. Many platforms usually self censor their content to make sure viewers’ discretion is maintained.

“If you think you can’t watch it with your family then you can stop it or pause it. Digital is always a medium of choice. I think ‘OTT cannot be watched with family’ is a wrong viewpoint. There is family content too,” he says. Sahil himself enjoys all kinds of genres. He loves to explore everything and learn.

“Succession season 3 is one of the best family dramas ever. It has won so many awards. Ishq is a beautiful Malayalam film that I loved watching. There is a film called ‘All the Freckles in the World’ that is about a boy who puts up a football team together. It is also a nice film. Then there is also Game Over, Man! which is one of the funniest films I have watched,” he shares his latest watchlist on OTT.

Sahil’s film 83 will soon be released on OTT. “Omicron spoiled our party and it will make our after party awesome as people who couldn’t go and watch the film in theatres can now watch it at the comfort of their homes. I am proud to be a part of this film. Thanks to Kabir Khan and Ranveer Singh for making me a part of this journey. Once it releases on OTT you will enjoy it especially the scene that got viral where I (as Syed Kirmani) come out and tell Kapil Dev (played by Ranveer), ‘hum marenge ya mar jayenge, aise aj nahi jayenge capsi, tu maar, mai khada hu na. The film is expected to release on February 18, both on Netflix and Hotstar,” he reveals.

“Honestly, I have been a natural dancer since childhood. When in class 11, I had the chance to perform a Bollywood number on stage; I knew that performing arts is my calling. So I completed my studies, and came to Mumbai. I got mentored by Pankaj Achpaliya sir and Priya Shankar ma’am. They used to run gym and Bollywood classes. I learned a lot from them. After that, I worked as an instructor at RSDC. My journey has been long from being an instructor to a dancer, to an assistant choreographer to a YouTuber, to now an independent choreographer,” he says.

Akshay wanted to dance because of Hrithik Roshan, after watching him perform Ek Pal Ka Jeena (Kaho Na… Pyaar Hain). “That song turned my world around. More than a dancer, I want to be a good choreographer. I look up to and admire the work of Masterji Ganesh Aacharya, Bosco Martis sir and Caesar Gonsalves sir. They are good and creative,” he adds.

As a background dancer, for three years Akshay performed in shows such as Star Screen Awards, Da-Bang Tour, IIFA and so on. He shares that as a dancer, one gets a lot of opportunities, like performing alongside stars such as Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, be on TV, also travel a lot.

“I have also travelled to many places abroad as a dancer. You get to make lifelong friends. My best friends are from my initial dancing days in Mumbai. So all in all there are quite a few perks. However, dancers work hard. They need to know all styles, many routines, and 12 hours of non-stop rehearsals. While as a choreographer, one gets to interact directly with the visionaries and create something artistic. I have full working knowledge of all types of equipment used on a set and this is because I am a choreographer. However, I feel that choreographers like me lack opportunities in the industry. I’m not stating reasons or blaming anyone, just a general opinion as a choreographer. There are many choreographers whose potential has not been fully explored,” he says.

On whether having formal training is necessary, he explains, “Talent is everything. I say this because I haven’t received any formal lessons in dance myself. I am a natural dancer. Yes of course my mentors helped me develop my skills and taught me a lot but I never joined any academy to learn dance.”

A piece of advice to aspiring dancers from Akshay would be to buck up. “There is a hell of a lot of hard work, struggle and sleepless nights. Learn from wherever you can, show no ego and make contacts for personal growth. Dance is something which you have to keep learning. There is always a scope to be better,” he adds.

Akshay’s favourite movie is Baahubali. “I can watch Baahubali at any point at any time without getting bored. The movie is fiction but it is so beautifully directed by SS Rajamouli sir that it feels real. I’m a big fan of his vision and direction and hope to work with him one day. My other favorite movies are 3 Idiots, KGF, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Fast and Furious Franchise and all Marvel movies,” he ends.

While they have many scenes together, Sahil is touched by Ranveer’s kindness and support. “We have a scene where we got applause from everyone present on the set. In that scene I have this dialogue, ‘maarenge ya mar jayenge, iske aage kuch nahi’ and Ranveer replies “bhai aap yeh sambhalo mein dusra sambhalta hun’, to which I tell him ‘tu maar main khada hu na’. The next shot is where he hits a boundary. So right after that there was a 30 seconds pause and after the pause the applause started. I remember Ranveer told me ‘eyes lock karlena mere sath, baaki jo kar raha hai sahi kar raha hai’ and that one thing that he added made the scene something very amazing, the emotions came out strong,” he says.

Sharing the advice Ranveer gave him, Sahil adds, “He told me to ride the wave and capitalise on it. Listen to what people say and also focus on what you think and do not keep doing the same thing, try to be experimental. He also said ‘Logon ko jo kehna hai tere baare me kehne de, your progress will speak for itself’ and praised my energy and my ability to focus. He is not just a reel life captain but also a real-life captain for me. We share the Ram-Laxman/Karan-Arjun/Jai-Veeru sort of vibes.”

No doubt Ranveer is like a big brother to the YouTuber. “When I used to make digital videos earlier for Being Indian, I used to get comments like I’m the malnourished Ranveer Singh, so I already had a connection with him. I used to dance on his songs, so the journey from being a fan to a friend has been good and gradual,” he says.

On Ranveer’s performance in the trailer, Sahil adds, “I think he killed it. He is a superb actor. I remember there was a poster shoot where I was dressed as Kiri Bhai and Ranveer as Kapil Dev. He walked in and I went like ‘arrey Kapil sir’ and the next second I realised it’s Ranveer. In fact, his reaction was similar to mine as he also said ‘Arey Kiri bhai’. So we were shocked with each other’s perfection. He is very hardworking and dedicated.”

There is much talk around Ranveer’s dressing sense. Sahil too shares his opinion. “His style is impeccable, where he wants to stand out he will do that, where it needs to be classy he does that well too. He told me that he goes with his feelings on that particular day and occasion. His dressing style is very different, quirky, very anti-fashion/trend. I look forward to continuing to learn from him,” he adds.

Talking about how Ranveer and his actor wife, Deepika Padukone, being called a power couple, Sahil says, “I feel Deepika keeps him grounded. Ranveer is very energetic, while she’s mellow, so it’s a very good balance. Ranveer is living the life of love, he’s loving what he does, he is with the love of his life and getting immense love from all over as you can see the response the trailer has been getting. Both of them are fond of me, woh jo ladla hota hai na ghar ka waisa.”

Tell us about your initial years, how did you do so much and that too so early on in your life?
I have done engineering and MBA from Delhi and was always inclined towards art. While pursuing an MBA, I remember in 2005 I joined Shiamak Davar academy and started my career as a background dancer. Sushant Singh Rajput was a part of the same batch and we were close friends. Sushant, Ansh Bagri and I even performed at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in Australia in 2006. Around that time I also did some modelling assignments with brands like Wills Lifestyle, India Fashion Week, few commercials like Samsung, LG and MacDonald’s. I also worked in movies like 3 idiots, Aisha as a background dancer. I also did a DD national show, worked in reality shows like Kyunki Jeena Isika Naam Hai, IIFA Star Ki Talaash, Dare To Date, Big Switch, Emotional Atyachar, Chat House and Date Trap. Anil Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Koena Mitra and Manish Malhotra, were judges and Karan Johar and Malaika Arora were the host of IIFA Star Ki Talaash where I was a runner-up. In 2011 after my MBA, I shifted to Mumbai, did quite a few more shows and ads but unfortunately, within a year my money got over and I went into depression. So I returned to Delhi and joined my father’s business. Later I worked in Kingdom of Dreams in Delhi and then went on to become an anchor at Homeshop 18, Snapdeal and later became the national head of the countrywide team of anchors at Naaptol. It was not easy to achieve any of these but I don’t think I would have learnt anything had it been a cakewalk.

As an anchor what are the qualities should one have to be successful in the profession?
His or her voice, pronunciation, how s/he speaks, words being used, gestures, postures and personality matter. Not just verbal but non -verbal communication is important. Eye contact with the audience, knowing their taste and what they are looking for are also necessary qualities. And an anchor should know how to crack jokes and when.

Who is your favourite anchor and why?
Mr Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan are the two people I really look up to. I have learnt a lot from the way Bachchan ji hosts Kaun Banega Crorepati and Salman ji anchors Bigg Boss. No doubt there are so many fans of both the shows. Their energy, presentation, knowledge and word usage are commendable.

What is your career focus at the moment?
Right now I’m an entrepreneur, so I have a few startups which includes D7 Events Pvt. Ltd., an event management company named and Realty Assistant Pvt Ltd, a real estate company that I am expanding. We have gone international with Dubai already, now Reality Assistant’s next stop is Canada. Apart from these two star-ups, I have two YouTube Channels. VJrahulbhatia, which is mainly for vlogging and pranks and the other one is Reviewrahulbhatia, which is a tech channel. And I am also thinking of taking up acting projects.

What are your viewpoints regarding daily soaps? Would you like to be a part of them in future?
I want to do daily soaps to start with. They are like dal chawal and it is the ideal space for me to learn. They also provide a regular source of income and help you form an audience base. I want to get back to acting.

How are you keeping your mind peaceful and happy in such times?
I just keep myself busy and do things that keep me happy. If you do nothing, you end up over-thinking and that adds to your worry. Spend time with your family, like I do with my mom and dad. I also read books, watch movies and cartoons in my free time. I feel rather than sitting idle and thinking too much why don’t we become more aware, follow precautions and help each other.

What kind of the content you put out in your tube channel?
The channel VJrahulbhatia is all things entertainment. I do vlogs on various topics, there are prank videos, regular conversation videos that involve my family etc. The second Reviewrahulbhatia is a tech channel that has been created out of my love for technology. I share about the latest technology trends and do product reviews too.

There are many actor influencers who have been doing good work. So what sets your content apart?
My content has a personal touch. I’m not an actor so to say. I have mostly done commercials and cameo roles. So what you see in the video is real me and my experience minus any kind of acting. So relatability is my USP.

He adds, “I still remember, it was my first meet and greet with fans in Dwarka. This was when I saw a fan girl wearing a t-shirt with my picture on it. It was really surprising for me as it was the first time. I was seeing this kind of love from my fans. From that day, I thought I am never going to stop and will keep motivating youth with my content. That day was so motivating for me.”

Ask him if he has ever felt intimidated by the popularity he has, and he says, “Not at all, never. In fact, I feel really grateful to have reached this stage where I can interact with lakhs of people and they listen to me. I love motivating people with my content.”

In fact, he says that all social media influencers should be responsible as people follow their posts. “A social media influencer has a lot of responsibility on their shoulders because so many people follow them. He must be careful. He should make his audience proud and motivate them,” he says.

Of course, Prateek has had some funny encounters with fans too. “I was roaming around In Cannaught Place, Delhi, for my photoshoot and a girl came to me and directly proposed me. I was shocked and quiet, I welcomed her with a gesture and clicked pictures with her. She said I made her day. It was very overwhelming for me,” he says.

I got so many features there and so people came to know that there’s a guy called Prateek Rana. Due to this, my Instagram following also started growing and from there, I did so many collaborations with other famous influencers and more people got to know about me and I used to post every day on my Instagram and Musical.ly I used to make so many videos daily, I used to make stories on Instagram too and I also started posting on YouTube.”

The actor then moved to Mumbai to enter showbiz. “I was free at my home and I thought of doing something creative. So I chose Musical.ly and started creating videos over there. My videos started going viral and it was an amazing feeling when people like your work and message you. Like any middle-class family, my family wanted to me take up a job. So I completed my BTech and after that, I went to Mumbai to become an actor,” he says.

Prateek loves his fans immensely. “It is such an amazing feeling to have a huge fan following. I don’t call my followers my fans, I call them my family because it is because of them that I am here. It feels amazing when people recognise you and click pictures with you,” he says.

Ask him what motivates him, and he says, “I just want to entertain people. If someone smiles looking at my content, I am motivated.”

Social media gets you a lot of fans but being trolled is also an ugly part of it. Talking about how he deals with it, Prateek says, “Everybody has their own point of view. Someone will like your content and someone will not, we cannot force anyone who doesn’t like your work, to like it. We have no right to hate them just because they hate our content. But yes, trolling someone is really a bad thing, that can spoil anyone’s day. But talking about me, I just ignore them. I do not reply to trolls,” he says.

However, he is so happy that the youth are finding work opportunity on social media. “I am happy that our youth have got the platform to showcase their talent. I don’t compete with anyone, I just do my work. I just track my growth and I will be happy if anyone is doing great and getting fame, they are also doing hard work and they are getting paid by getting famous. I am really happy that our youth is doing so well on social media and I think social media is the future of India and youth is killing it,” he says.
