“When you’re doing a television show, you don’t really get time. You have to balance the person and the actor, whatever is going on in your life you have to stay emotionally connected to the scenes, understand what it demands. You could be tired and exhausted but you have render the scene precisely according to how it is written and envisioned. It’s your responsibility to deliver it, not always easy but after years one is able to do that with time. That is why we’re actors and we love what we do. Like so many people say about us, like what Stella Adler had said, “You have chosen a field where you’re going to be hurt to the blood. But to retreat from the pain is death”. So, the show must go on. Many times people have lost their loved ones and came back and shot for their project, people have gone through a lot of pain but have come back and performed, that is what we do and that is what we love doing and I think that is what keeps us sane,” he says.

Actors are generally said to have more relationship issues. Most actors don’t have trustworthy people or as many point out that they face trust issues.

“I don’t know if I can describe this emotional or relationship issues such things are common everywhere. I have seen a lot of people who aren’t actors, but are going through the same feelings of insecurity or not being able to trust people and all that. The industry is a place where everyone comes as an individual and then makes up this whole group whom you can call a team wherein everybody has dreams and aspirations and they know they are being watched and they need to put their craft out there to the best of their ability and knowing that people would judge or rate them. In all that activity they have to keep their peace of mind, their joy, their comfort and keep enjoying what they are doing,” adds the actor, who has done TV shows, Remix, Beyhadh 2, Kumkum, and, movies such as, Sargoshiyan, Dishkiyaoon and Horror Story.

Talking about his life, Hasan shares that all the relations in his life has been dealt with a lot of love, care and clarity. He says, “One tends to meet a lot of people and might think everybody is a friend but then as time passes by, one realizes that a very few are your close friends and have a certain special place in your life. What matters in the end is the choice one makes. Be comfortable with yourselves so that is how you will put everybody close to you in a comfortable position.”

Hasan also shared what he has discovered about himself through Pritam. “You always discover yourself through dialogues and the way you react. I really enjoy doing dramatic scenes and discovered that I am a bit shy when it comes to dancing in front of the camera. I am more relaxed when I am dancing on my own.”

Hasan shares a wonderful rapport with all the cast and crew. “I am pals with everyone on the set. There also is a special boys club with Ankit Narang and Ishaan Dhawan. And then there is Esha Kansara who plays Amrita. We share a lot of screen time together and for that, we understand each other. We also respect our space.”

Speaking about the feedback of Pritam Hasan says,”The feedback has been phenomenal. Whenever I am
Live on Social Media I do get a lot of positive feedback on Pritam’s body language, his nuances, and his way of speaking. The best feedback which I have often received is if Pritam exists in real life, it will exactly be the way I play the character. “A lot of times there are characters who don’t dance or aren’t happy, but in terms of this, every actor gets to dress up and they do songs and dances. They all look forward to it. Even the audience looks forward to that otherwise they may not see them in that avatar and obviously, it adds a lot of value and lots of colour. It’s a good frame and something pleasant to watch, people look forward to it,” he said.

Naila and Christina are in the wine growing village in Austria which has many wineries, horse farm, honeybee farm so Hasan is happy that they are there and experiencing a lot of things that are not possible here in India now due to the pandemic. Hasan adds,” Though I am waiting for them to come back, I know how much she is enjoying herself there. She is with her mom and her grandparents and she is busy with horse riding, swimming, hiking — all things that are not possible here currently because of the virus. She is someone who is good with her studies and that has made us proud too.”

“Indian society has evolved as far as acknowledging the LGBTQ community is concerned. With so much happening on our OTT platform, news coming from all over the world about laws being passed in favour of them in different countries and been withdrawn and then being passed again depending upon the kind of government that comes in power, people have come to know more about them. But having said I would like to mention that the LGBTQ community has suffered a lot, some of the nations have done a good job and I think we should take a lead from them. In India, there are people who understand and accept them, but there is still not 100% knowledge of it,” he added.

Hasan shared that he has friends who are gay and talking about them, he said, “Some are open about it, some are not, some have really suffered, some have really stood for themselves and people around them have also stood for them and they have come out in the open and living beautiful lives, although they still have their struggles, depending upon where they are living.”

On same sex marriage still being illegal in India, he said, “That could be because of general biases, that could be because of people just not accepting it at all, and obviously there is a lot of social pressure. I sometimes feel that even if someone is in the LGBTQ community or relates to them, they would never openly talk about it or share because of the horror that they have seen by people from their community go through after they came out of the closet. Some of them are still living in a cocoon. So yes, all the celebration they’re making is good, it’s very encouraging, but there’s still a very long way to go.”

A message to the LGBTQ community and your fans? “My message to my fans is that that, love, live, and let love and live, there is so much that one can achieve with that. And to my friends and fans in the LGBTQ community, believe in yourself, there will be a small period where you need to be brave, but in the long run you’ll be happy. So stand up for yourself, I know it’s hard. You’ll find people who will back you, and you’ll find people who love you and stand by you, and that is your right,” Hasan concluded.
