Rick Roy on Namrata Soni’s beauty campaign, “I was nervous as I have never really been on a beauty campaign”!
Celebrity Stylist Rick Roy has been in the entertainment industry for more than 2 decades Styling the who who’se of Bollywood celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor, Malaika Arora and many others. Adding another milestone to his career, Rick also recently made his acting debut with the web show #DilDostiDilemma.
Continuing the streak of his great work, Rick is now featured in #NamrataSonis latest beauty brand campaign. Speaking about how the collaboration came to life, Rick reveals, “She had a clear vision regarding me in her mind. When she was launching this product and I spoke to her, she told me that she is shooting this campaign with Real people and it’s not like a regular typical model campaign. She told me that she wanted to work with different people who are real and who are dealing with real life issues. I felt very excited that Namu had chosen me for such an important campaign which deals with real life issues”
Although Rick has acted before, he admitted that this was his first time being part of a beauty campaign, and that brought its own set of nerves. “I was nervous as I have never really been on a beauty campaign. I spoke to her and asked her what she wanted — should I change my hair because my hair is purple, or for the beauty campaign did she want it to be a more ‘normal’ colour? Did she want me to lose a little bit of weight? I love the fact that she just told me, ‘Rick, just do not do anything.’ In fact, she said, ‘I don’t want you to change anything. Just come exactly how you are — that’s the essence of you and that’s what I want to capture in my campaign.’”
Her approach was refreshing and deeply personal. She wanted me because of who I am — my personality, my hair, my face, everything. That was very exciting because I loved the fact that she was so authentic about the vision she had for the campaign, and I literally fit into the personality type she wanted.”
The campaign also features three men besides me — all with different personalities and different skin types.” Her campaign stands out for celebrating individuality and embracing real, unfiltered beauty — and Rick Roy’s vibrant personality fit perfectly into that vision.
