From Acid Attack to Padma Shri: Mangla Kapoor Overcomes Grief, Poverty, and Trials to Make History!

Former professor Mangla Kapoor was honored in the music category for her contributions. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised her outstanding initiatives in music. The Marathi film Mangla, based on Professor Kapoor’s life, has generated significant buzz. At just 13, she survived an acid attack that shattered her world.
Enduring immense pain and societal scorn, she rose with unyielding determination, giving her life profound purpose. Mangla tells her story of struggle and triumph. Actress Shivali Parab portrayed Mangla Kapoor, bringing her journey to life alongside Mangla Deshpande in a pivotal role. The film offers a glimpse into her real-life battles, symbolizing her resilience—qualities that earned her the Padma Shri.Speaking on the award, Professor Kapoor said, “I’m grateful to everyone who deemed me worthy of this honor.”
Producer Aparna Houshing, reflecting on the biopic, shared, “Being part of Mangla Kapoor’s life journey was my fortune. Overseeing Mangla’s production let me witness her story up close.
