New Poster of ‘Boong’ Out, Releases March 6, 2026!
Excel Entertainment’s landmark film Boong, set to hit theatres on March 6, 2026, as anticipation soars with just three days to go for the release. Excel Entertainment along with Chalkboard Entertainment and Suitable Pictures have backed the film, which is historically the first Indian film to receive the BAFTA award, representing a significant change for Indian regional cinema at the international level.
Boong is written and directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, the film has crossed the boundaries of languages and states. The movie was recognized globally at the 79th British Academy Film Awards held at the London’s Royal Festival Hall, alongside other major international movies, which further validated the universal nature of the movie’s storytelling.
The film first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, kickstarting an impressive festival journey that included screenings at the Warsaw International Film Festival, São Paulo International Film Festival, Adelaide Film Festival and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, among others. Each stop strengthened its reputation as a tender, emotionally resonant narrative rooted in authenticity.

Written and directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, the story of Boong revolves around a little boy who plans to surprise his mother with a gift. In his innocence, he believes that bringing his absentee father back home would be the most special gift. Boong’s search for his father disintegrates his world but culminates into an unexpected gift.
After earning global acclaim and bringing home a landmark BAFTA honour for India, Boong now gears up for its big-screen journey, arriving in cinemas again on March 6.
