‘Balan The Boy’ from KVN Productions and Thespian Films Set for Spotlight at Cannes’ Marché du Film!
KVN Productions, under Venkat K Narayana’s leadership, and Thespian Films, guided by Shailaja Desai Fenn, have unveiled Balan The Boy, sparking significant anticipation. The film will feature a dedicated market screening on May 14 at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival.
This project unites two rising stars of Malayalam cinema: director #Chidambaram (Manjummel Boys) and screenwriter Jithu Madhavan (Aavesham). Riding this wave of excitement, the production team plans to introduce the film to international buyers at Cannes’ Marché du Film with a screening on May 14, marking a key step toward worldwide recognition.
Director Chidambaram reflected on presenting the film to a global crowd at Cannes: “Balan The Boy delves into the burdens we bear unknowingly—the roots that weigh us down and the drive to discover our true place. I crafted it for anyone who’s grappled with those emotions but struggled to express them. Cannes has long championed films that deliver such raw honesty, and Balan The Boy fully embraces its viewers: feel first, comprehend later, and take away a lingering impact.”
#VenkatKNarayana of KVN Productions added: “Balan The Boy isn’t merely a movie—it’s a bold declaration that reignites your passion for filmmaking. Malayalam industry’s output is now too compelling for the world to overlook, and we’re at Cannes because this film demands a spot in that vital dialogue.”
Shailaja Desai Fenn of Thespian Films commented on the Cannes showcase: “Cannes means a lot to me personally. During my 2022 visit, I vowed silently to return with a project in hand. Today, arriving with Balan The Boy, I can say some commitments make every late night worthwhile. We’re thrilled at KVN Productions and Thespian Films to bring this story we cherish to the Marché du Film. Huge thanks to our visionary director Chidambaram for bringing it to life. Balan The Boy tells a timeless tale of identity, resilience, and a mother’s unbreakable tie to her child—one that will touch hearts of all ages globally. That’s the true magic of cinema.”
Fueled by a gripping narrative and bold artistry, Balan The Boy charts a path through self-discovery, endurance, and familial devotion. Its Cannes market debut positions it for broader international appeal, captivating key players in the global film scene.
