Sequel to Umesh Mehra’s ‘Office-Office’ Titled ‘Chali Mussaddi Ki Beti’ Launched!
#UmeshMehra (Under Eagle films) is bringing back one of Indian television’s most loved comedies, and this time the story takes a fresh turn. In Office – Office Chali Mussaddi Ki Beti, it is Musaddi Lal’s daughter who takes centre stage. The show will air on Doordarshan on 25 May 2026 and will air daily at 8:30 PM. It will also stream on Waves OTT.
Umesh shared that the idea first came up more than two years ago, when plans for Waves OTT were still taking shape. He said, “The process started over two years ago when the plans for the launch of Waves OTT were getting underway. We were invited to pitch some ideas, and amongst them we pitched a fresh take on Office-Office with Shruti Sharma as the lead as a female protagonist. The concept was instantly approved.”
But he admits he was initially unsure about doing the show for Doordarshan. He said, “I was wary of working with DD, but our line producer Vivek Srivastava insisted it would be a big boost for the franchise, as no channel can match the reach of DD.”
Once the concept was approved, things moved quickly. Writer duo Hirendra and Nimisha came on board, and when Umesh approached Rajiv Mehra to direct, a different suggestion emerged. He said, “I asked Rajiv Mehra to direct, but he felt we should go with a known professional director, and so Rajan Wagdhare took up the challenge.”
His nephew Aman Mehra, who trained in the US and UK, also joined the project as a producer. The first set of scripts was sent to Prasar Bharati and approved without delay. He said, “We sent the first 13 scripts to Prasar Bharti, and they were quickly approved.”
For the title track, Umesh turned to long-time collaborator Anu Malik. He said, “I requested my old colleague Anu Malik to do the title track, and he has given us a superhit track.”
“Everything worked like magic, and we were able to get a great cast and some of the finest technical people. We started shooting on 5th November 2025 and completed the shoot of 52 episodes in four months,” he added.
The show features a fresh and talented ensemble cast including Shruti Sharma, Sumit Arora, Krishna Bhatt, Anusha Mishra, Garima Jain, Kislay Dutt, Sucheta Khanna, and Sanjay Choudhary, bringing new energy to the beloved franchise.
While for fans of the original Office Office, it marks the return of a franchise that has remained popular for years; for Eagle Films, it also marks a return to television after a long gap, and for Umesh, the show represents more than the return of a popular comedy. He said, “The show announces the comeback of Eagle Films on the small screen and helps us prepare for the big screen.”
