Hema Malini

Hema Malini To Sing Live, Find Out Where?

Some stars become legends. Some journeys become memories. But very rarely does an era return to the stage… to be felt all over again. In her Diamond Jubilee Year, Hema Malini will be celebrated through a one-of-its-kind live golden legacy experience — The Dream Girl’s Diamond Jubilee Concert, conceptualised on the format of Legends ki Kahani, Legends ki Zubaani — at Shanmukhananda Hall on July 10, in aid of CINTAA.

More than a concert, the evening promises to be an emotional journey through six decades of cinema, music, love and memories. For the first time ever, Hema Malini’s extraordinary journey will unfold live on stage — through her own voice, through the unforgettable music of her films, and through stories from the people who witnessed and shaped the golden era she continues to represent.

In one of the most emotional highlights of the evening, Hema Malini will also sing live on stage for the audience, making the concert an even more intimate and unforgettable celebration of her journey. Adding to the magic of the night, she will perform a surprise song towards the finale of the concert, creating a deeply personal moment for audiences witnessing the Dream Girl relive her life through music, emotion and memories.

The evening will feature a 15-piece live orchestra that travels through milestones of her cinematic life — from timeless melodies and iconic songs to the silences that defined her strength, grace and resilience.

Over the years, audiences have witnessed RJ Anirudh Chawla’s celebrated live tributes to cinematic legends — from Rishi Kapoor Live in Concert in 2017, Roshan Se Roshan Tak with Hrithik Roshan and Rakesh Roshan, Yeh Shaam Mastani with Zeenat Aman, and Phir Wahi Asha Laya Hoon with Asha Parekh. Yet, this evening stands apart — for its honesty, its emotional intimacy, its tribute to Dharamji, and its larger purpose of supporting the fraternity through CINTAA.

A press conference was held at the CINTAA office in the presence of Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure and RJ Anirudh Chawla, along with celebrated artistes Suresh Wadkar, Shabbir Kumar, Anu Malik and Vijeta Pandit.

The event also witnessed the presence of key CINTAA Executive Committee members including Upasana Singh, Sheeba Akashdeep, Deepak Parashar, Vikas Verma and Chandraprakash Thakur, amongst others, where the official trailer and concert poster were unveiled and the larger vision behind the initiative was shared.

Padmini Kolhapure, Poonam Dhillon and Anu Malik shared heartfelt anecdotes about Hema Malini and spoke about how she had been a part of their lives and journeys in more ways than one.

Padmini Kolhapure, Shabbir Kumar, Vijeta Pandit, Anu Malik and Suresh Wadkar also sang memorable songs associated with Hema Malini’s illustrious cinematic journey, filling the evening with nostalgia, emotion and celebration.

RJ Anirudh Chawla and Poonam Dhillon spoke about how Hema Malini had inspired and influenced generations through her grace, discipline and timeless legacy, while Upasana Singh fondly recalled beautiful moments shared with Hema ji during her early days as a newcomer.

Together, each of them reflected on how, in their own special way, they had become a part of Hema Malini’s extraordinary journey leading up to her Diamond Jubilee charity concert in aid of CINTAA.

Deepak Parashar and Sheeba Akashdeep also spoke warmly about the pride and emotion felt across the fraternity when Dharmendra was posthumously honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, which Hema Malini received on his behalf. They shared that it was a deeply moving moment not just for the family, but for the entire film fraternity and every member of CINTAA.

Anu Malik emotionally recalled the moment he saw Ahana overcome with tears while watching her mother receive the Padma Vibhushan on behalf of Dharmendraji, sharing how the sight moved everyone present and reminded them of the love, respect and legacy the legendary couple continues to inspire across generations.

One of the most beautiful moments of the press conference was the manner in which RJ Anirudh Chawla brought alive anecdotes from Hema Malini’s remarkable journey through rare posters, vintage records and memorabilia from his personal archive.

Anirudh Chawla, who is known for his extraordinary collection of iconic Bollywood posters and records, recreated the nostalgia and emotion of an entire era right on the press conference table itself. The collection not only became a conversation piece for everyone present, but also served as a reminder of the timeless magic, memories and legacy associated with Hema Malini and Indian cinema. The effervescent RJ presented the cheque on behalf of Hemaji and his company Landmark Entertainment to CINTAA’s Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure.

The press conference and the larger Diamond Jubilee charity concert are supported by Sanjeev Gupta of Global Advertisers, the official outdoor marketing partners and Naarad PR and Image Strategists, the official PR partners of the event, who have joined hands to help bring this landmark tribute of Dharamji and Hemaji’s extraordinary legacy to audiences in a grand and memorable manner.

In a significant gesture, the evening will also support CINTAA, with a contribution on behalf of Hema Malini being announced towards the welfare of artists and workers from the fraternity.

What makes the evening truly special is the presence of legends who have, in their own way, contributed to the golden era that defines Hema Malini’s legacy. At its emotional core lies a deeply personal tribute to Dharamji — a love story that generations have celebrated both on and off screen.

Celebrated artistes — or as RJ Anirudh Chawla calls them, “Hemaji Ke Navratan” — including Sudesh Bhosale, Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam, Suresh Wadkar, Padmini Kolhapure, Anup Jalota, Anu Malik, Shabbir Kumar, Vijeyta Pandit, Purnima Shrestha will be present, lending their voice and presence to an evening that celebrates not just a superstar, but an entire era of Indian cinema. Padmini Kolhapure will also take to the stage to perform live during the concert.

“I will be sharing my sixty-year-long journey of films and music with all of you for the very first time. The love that Dharamji and I have received from the film industry and from people across the country and the world can never truly be repaid, but through this show, I am getting an opportunity to express my gratitude to all my fans.

“When Anirudh approached me and said that he wanted to create a charitable musical show in memory of my Dharamji, along with some of the greatest legends of music, I truly loved the idea.

“CINTAA has always supported lakhs of artists from our industry. Anirudh and I will be donating five lakh rupees from the ticket sales of this show to CINTAA. This is a small gesture of my love and gratitude towards the organisation.

“I have personally seen how sincerely and honestly CINTAA has stood for the welfare and rights of artists. Dharamji too always deeply appreciated the spirit of service that CINTAA represents. Being associated with CINTAA is a matter of pride for me.

“And yes, at the July 10 show, CINTAA wishes to honour me, and for that I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude. I also want to promise CINTAA that as a Member of Parliament, I will always raise my voice in Parliament for the challenges and difficulties faced by our artists.

“Another beautiful aspect of this unique event is that I will get the opportunity to felicitate the legends and colleagues who have been a part of both my work and my success. My co-stars, my music directors, my writers and my directors. It gives me immense happiness that I have been blessed with this opportunity to salute them before the world,” says Hema Malini.

“This is not just a concert. It is a journey through time. When you work on a legacy like Hema ji’s, you do not compose music — you relive moments that shaped generations. Every note we present on stage is a tribute not just to her films, but to an era that continues to live within all of us,” says RJ Anirudh Chawla.

“This initiative beautifully brings together legacy and responsibility. CINTAA has always stood for the welfare of our fraternity, and it is heartening to see a celebration of this scale also carry a deeper purpose of supporting artists and workers of our industry,” says Poonam Dhillon.

“Hema ji is not just a star, she is an emotion that has stayed with audiences across generations. To be part of an evening like this is deeply special. It is not merely a tribute — it is gratitude,” says Padmini Kolhapure.

The Hema Malini Diamond Jubilee charity musical also extend beyond the stage. The year will include a book on Hema Malini’s life, co-authored by Hema Malini and RJ Anirudh Chawla, published by Rupa Publications, along with a documentary chronicling her remarkable journey for audiences across India and the world.

As the lights come up on July 10, the stage will not merely celebrate the Dream Girl. It will celebrate a lifetime of memories, music, cinema, love and legacy… through the very voices that helped create it.
