Dwayne Johnson Channels His Inner Demigod With Maui’s Iconic Hook at Disney’s Epic ‘Moana’ World Premiere!

The star-studded cast and visionary creators behind Disney’s highly anticipated live-action Moana took over the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles for a breathtaking world premiere. Stealing the show on the blue carpet, Dwayne Johnson fully embraced his legendary character by wielding Maui’s magical giant hook, turning the spectacular evening into an unforgettable family affair alongside his wife and daughters.

The evening began with Thomas Kail and Lin-Manuel Miranda welcoming guests before introducing the renowned Nonosina dancers, whose captivating performance brought the spirit of the Pacific Islands to life through traditional dance, live percussion, chanting and vocals. The celebration continued with a traditional Polynesian ceremony featuring Catherine Lagaʻaia and Dwayne Johnson, who joined in the festivities with energetic dance moves that reflected the rich cultural heritage at the heart of Moana.

In Moana, Disney’s live-action reimagining of the beloved Oscar®️-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island home, Motunui, alongside the legendary demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.

The film is directed by Emmy®️ and Tony Award®️ winner Thomas Kail (Hamilton); produced by Dwayne Johnson, p.g.a., Beau Flynn, p.g.a., Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, p.g.a., and Lin-Manuel Miranda; and executive produced by Scott Sheldon, Charles Newirth, Thomas Kail and Auliʻi Cravalho, who voiced Moana in the animated films Moana and Moana 2. The film features the brand-new song “Along The Way,” written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Auliʻi Cravalho, Catherine Lagaʻaia and Dwayne Johnson, alongside original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina, with an original score by Mark Mancina.

Audiences can experience the breathtaking sights, unforgettable music and epic adventure of Disney’s Moana exclusively in English and Hindi when it sails into Indian cinemas this Friday, 10 July 2026.
