Actor Kubbra Sait expressed deep sorrow as she paid a moving tribute to legendary mountaineer Nirmal “Nims” Purja after learning of his death. Speaking from Nepal, Kubbra conveyed that the tragic news hit close to home, hailing Nims as “one of the greatest mountaineers of our time” while reflecting on the lasting impression he left on outdoor enthusiasts worldwide.

Speaking about Nims’ extraordinary achievements, Kubbra highlighted how he redefined the limits of human endurance by climbing all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks in just six months and six days. For her, his journey represented far more than a series of records—it embodied courage, resilience and an unwavering relationship with the mountains.

“I’m in Nepal today. This is his hometown. And this loss feels extremely personal,” Kubbra said, sharing how being surrounded by the mountains made the news feel even more poignant.

Reflecting on what mountains teach us, she added, “The thing about mountains is that they humble you. They remind you how small you are. And strangely, the summit is never really the destination. You can go up there, celebrate for just maybe a few minutes, and then the real work starts, which is coming back down.”

Although Kubbra revealed that she never personally met Nims, she felt connected to his journey through their shared admiration for the mountains and the spirit of mountaineering. She spoke about how his life demonstrated that courage isn’t about being without fear, but about choosing to move forward despite it.

“I never really met him. But anyone who’s ever tied a pair of boots, taken a deep breath at altitude, or looked up at a mountain with equal parts of awe and respect knows that we’ve actually lost one of our own,” she expressed.

Kubbra also extended her condolences to Nims’ family, teammates and the global climbing community. Remembering his remarkable legacy, she concluded with an emotional tribute: “Rest easy, Nims. Your climb is over. But your legacy, that will keep taking people high up.”
