Maddock Films Enters Courtroom Drama Territory with ‘Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam’ Starring Rajkummar Rao!
Maddock Films is expanding its genre repertoire once again, this time venturing into the world of courtroom drama with Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam. After backing films across romance (Param Sundari, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke), horror-comedy (Stree, Thamma), social dramas and historical subjects (Chhaava), the Dinesh Vijan-led production house is turning its attention to one of India’s most significant legal battles.
Starring Rajkummar Rao as veteran public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, Prahaar revisits the legal proceedings that followed the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, with the Ajmal Kasab trial forming a central part of the narrative. Instead of looking at 26/11 solely through the lens of the attack, the film shifts focus to the courtroom, the pursuit of justice and the legal battle that followed.
With Prahaar, Maddock Films continues to expand its storytelling canvas, moving into real-life narratives and courtroom drama while staying rooted in subjects with strong content value. The film adds yet another distinct genre to the production house’s growing slate.
Directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam stars Rajkummar Rao, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, Ashish Vidyarthi, Lalit Prabhakar and Ritvik Sahore. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on October 16, 2026.
