Andy Kumar celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi in England!
Actor Andy Kumar, who stays in England, says that Ganesh Chaturthi has always been a part of his life. He says that he will always remember celebrating it in Mumbai.
“I have grown up with a very Indian mother and very religious Hindu household. We have a very big temple in our house one of our rooms is a Mandir and my mom does puja twice a day. And so growing up we’ve had many havans, many paats and pujas and in our house I’ve grown up as a Hindu,” he says.
He adds, “The first time I hear about Ganesha Chaturthi was in Mumbai. That’s where I first saw the amazing crowd and the largest murtis. It is all-inspiring; that kind of energy around those mandals is so amazing. It’s so exciting at that time. The festival has such an amazing energy and I mean, it’s world-renowned. I’ve been so lucky to be able to see it up close and personal because I’ve been living in Mumbai for over 20 years. I was a part of the festival for many years. I actually visited many shrines in my friend’s houses. It is just such an amazing time where you kind of feel a lot of peace and gratefulness for the universe.”
Talking about his plans for the year, he says, “This year we’re celebrating is in England, our Hindu temple. And I think the staphna will happen tomorrow. I think today they’re going to be doing the puja and lifting the veil and visiting the temple for that and probably going to the visarjan as well. So yeah, I’m celebrating this year but in a different way. We will go to the temple and will see Ganpati going into the Jubliee river.”
