Chiranjiv Perfect Bighadlay

‘Chiranjiv Perfect Bighadlay’ set to premiere on November 5, 2025!

For the past two years, Pune-based writer-director #VinodRatna and his theatre group have been making waves by consecutively winning several one-act play competitions across Maharashtra. This year, at the State-Level One-Act Play Competition organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, their play “Chiranjiv Perfect Bighadlay” swept all the top awards — right from writing, direction, and acting to set design and lighting. The play stood out for its creative experiments and fresh presentation across every department.

Now, this award-winning one-act play is being transformed into a full-length stage play, set to premiere on November 5, 2025, coinciding with Marathi Theatre Day. The renowned theatre artist Chandrakant Kulkarni will be presenting the production, and the unique aspect is that the same energetic original team will be seen performing on the professional stage as well. Produced under the banner of ‘Jigisha’, the play is currently in the midst of rigorous rehearsals.

This transition — from one-act play circuits and state-level competitions to mainstream commercial theatre — is a familiar journey in Maharashtra’s theatre tradition. However, what makes “Chiranjiv Perfect Bighadlay” special is the vibrant team of new-generation artists, writers, directors, and performers bringing youthful energy and contemporary sensibilities to the Marathi stage. Productions like “All The Best” and “Manomilan” have earlier proven how such experimental efforts can achieve remarkable success — and this play seems poised to follow that path.

Thematically, the play reflects a fresh, modern perspective in both content and presentation, pushing the boundaries of stagecraft and storytelling. “Through this production, we aim to build a connection with the Gen-Z audience while passing on the legacy of theatre from one generation to the next,” said producers Shripad Padmakar and Dilip Jadhav, along with presenter Chandrakant Kulkarni.

Carrying the dual responsibility of writing and direction, Vinod Ratna leads the team, while talented artists #SamruddhiKulkarni, #ShreyasJoshi, and  #VaibhavRandhve, who previously swept awards for their performances, are expected to once again win the hearts of theatre lovers across Maharashtra.
