Abhijeet Sawant

During his stage performance, Abhijeet Sawant, revisited several memorable songs!

The recently held Bollywood Music Project turned into a grand musical celebration for music lovers. Every year, this much-awaited festival brings together some of the biggest names in Indian music — composers and singers alike — while also offering a platform for talented artists to perform. This year, joining the league of musical greats like Shankar Mahadevan, Farhan Akhtar, Shaan, Ehsaan, Anu Malik, and Salim–Sulaiman Merchant was none other than Marathi singer Abhijeet Sawant.

The event stood out this year thanks to Abhijeet’s soulful performance and his evergreen melodies that left the audience spellbound. Having ruled hearts since his Indian Idol days, Abhijeet once again proved his charm and stage presence.

During his performance, Abhijeet revisited several memorable songs from his two-decade-long musical journey, delivering a mix of Hindi and Marathi numbers. From his youth anthem “Mohabbatein Lutaunga” to the melodious Marathi gem “Sar Sukhachi Shravani,” his setlist struck a perfect balance of nostalgia and freshness.

What made his act truly special was his decision to perform a Marathi song on such a prominent Bollywood stage — winning the admiration not only of Marathi audiences but also of non-Marathi music lovers. By performing “Sar Sukhachi Shravani” amidst Bollywood hits, Abhijeet beautifully showcased his Marathi roots while celebrating the universality of music.

Speaking about the experience, Abhijeet shared, “The Bollywood Music Project is a huge platform where audiences of all ages — from kids to youngsters — watch and listen to us with great enthusiasm. As performers, our responsibility goes beyond singing; it’s about evoking nostalgia and emotion. Even though it’s a Bollywood event, I felt it was important to perform a Marathi song for my fans. The response was overwhelming — not just from Marathi listeners but also from non-Marathi audiences. It truly proves that music has no language. Today’s generation might lean towards hip-hop, remixes, and DJ beats, but festivals like this remind them of the timeless charm of original music.”

When a Marathi artist shares the stage with celebrated musicians from across India, it becomes a proud moment for Marathi music lovers. As Abhijeet Sawant marks 20 years in the music industry, he continues to experiment, evolve, and deliver chart-topping songs that keep him in tune with the ever-changing musical trends.
