‘Homebound’ is India’s Official Entry for the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars) 2025!

The Film Federation of India (FFI) today officially announced India’s selection for the 98th Academy Awards in the International Feature Film category. The press conference was held in Kolkata, marking a momentous occasion for Indian cinema on the global stage.
Renowned filmmaker Mr. N. Chandra, who chaired the esteemed Oscar Selection Jury, led the announcement. He was joined by Mr. Firdausul Hasan, President of the Film Federation of India, who warmly introduced the distinguished jury members to the media.
This year’s selection process took place at the iconic Globe Cinema in Kolkata. A dedicated panel of 14 jury members screened and evaluated 24 films submitted from across India. After thorough deliberation and discussion, one film was unanimously chosen to represent India at the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.

“As a proud citizen of Kolkata, I am truly delighted that this prestigious screening and selection process has been held in our city. The Film Federation of India (FFI) began submitting films to the Oscars in 1957. The first film officially sent by India for consideration in the Best Foreign Language Film category (now known as Best International Feature Film) was Mother India. The Federation remains committed to showcasing the very best of Indian cinema on the global stage. Last year, Laapataa Ladies was India’s official entry to the Oscars. Now, Homebound is set to represent India. I thank the esteemed jury for their dedicated efforts in this selection process and congratulate the entire team of the selected film,” added Mr. Firdausul Hasan, President of the Film Federation of India.

The Film Federation of India congratulates the selected film’s entire team and wishes them the very best as they embark on this prestigious international journey.
