Latha Warrier, the first-time producer of “Horn and Ivory,” expressed gratitude to the jury for the film’s selection. She shared her delight at being part of this esteemed platform alongside other eminent filmmakers, citing Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Vaccine War” among the notable selections.
About “Horn and Ivory”: Horn and Ivory” is a ninety-three-minute psychological crime thriller that revolves around the aspirations and struggles of a young actress determined to fulfill her dreams. The narrative delves into the complexities of her journey as she grapples with distinguishing between her true desires and perceived ambitions in the glamorous world of Tinseltown. The title, “Horn and Ivory,” draws inspiration from the Gates of Horn and Ivory, representing the dichotomy between true and false dreams.
Film’s Origin: The film was conceived by Dr. Vineet Yadav, the writer, and director, during a hike on the Lonavala-Rajmachi forest trail. What began as an idea for a short film blossomed into a full-length feature, undergoing transformations along the way. The narrative initially centered around an Indian protagonist but eventually found its perfect match in the talented Russian actress Daria Gavrushenko, who fell in love with the character of Myra.
Production Highlights: Despite operating on a shoestring budget, “Horn and Ivory” boasts world-class cinematography, thanks to the use of Red Helium 8K cameras. Serendipitous encounters during the production process, including collaboration with Julia from Moscow and support from the forest department for crucial scenes, allowed the team to focus on creating a compelling film without logistical constraints.
