‘In Transit’ Was Made With Heart, Grit, and Queer Honesty!
Shot across India, In Transit is a landmark 4-part docu-series that doesn’t just showcase the lives of queer people, but delves deep into their world with respect, empathy and a deep sense of human connection. At its core, In Transit is a radical reminder that the most powerful stories are raw, unfiltered and personal. With In Transit, producers #ReemaKagti and #ZoyaAkhtar, who are known for going above and beyond in their storytelling, are doing something groundbreaking. The talented duo has stepped into unscripted with the same sensitivity and mindfulness that has defined their work in fiction, bringing emotional depth and rich culture to the screens.
Speaking on backing the docuseries, Reema Kagti remarked, “Our intent to understand and to learn while putting this series together. I think intent is what is important while producing something like In Transit.”
Echoing the same sentiment, Zoya Akhtar added, “I think representation is very, very important. It’s important to feel seen because it can be incredibly isolating if you don’t. There are filmmakers who are putting honest, real, and authentic characters and stories out there. It’s especially important for young people who don’t have access to understanding these things. For them to be able to see themselves reflected like that—it makes a difference. That’s why I think representation matters, and I’m glad it’s happening now.”
Produced by Zoya Akhtar & Reema Kagti under the banner of Tiger Baby, In Transit is a four-part docuseries directed by #AyeshaSood that delves into the lives of trans and non-binary individuals as they navigate love, identity, and the fluid boundaries of gender through a distinctly Indian lens. In Transit is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video in India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide on June 13.
