‘Kadhipatta’ to Release on November 7, Teaser Out!
In Indian cuisine, curry leaves hold a distinct and irreplaceable charm. Now, that very essence has found its way into Marathi cinema with the upcoming film Kadhipatta. From its quirky title to its refreshing lead pair, the film has already been creating buzz. After piquing curiosity with its posters and first look, the makers have now unveiled the teaser. True to its name, the teaser has been dubbed “spicy” by netizens, and in just a short span, it has successfully amplified excitement among audiences. The film is slated for release across Maharashtra on November 7.
Presented by Yuvan Productions and produced by Swapnil Yuvraj Marathe, Kadhipatta is directed by Vishwa, who has also penned the story. The teaser hints at a unique love story rooted in Maharashtrian folk traditions. In the state’s cultural heritage, “Ukhaane” (playful poetic verses recited during weddings) hold special significance, traditionally recited first by women and then by men. Interestingly, in Kadhipatta, the teaser opens with the hero reciting an ukhaana: “Marriages are tied in heaven, today I take Mira’s name for my verse.” The heroine follows with her own: “In heaven’s witness, I promise my wedding vow, Lalit is my beloved, my jaaneman.” But the teaser ends on a surprising note—with the couple’s love story culminating in divorce. What transpires in between, leading them to such a drastic step, is the mystery that keeps the audience hooked.
The film stars Bhushan Patil in the lead role, opposite actress Riddhi Kumar, who makes her Marathi debut after establishing herself in South Indian cinema. Together, the fresh pairing promises a vibrant on-screen chemistry. The story delves into the world of a modern couple—their emotions, choices, relationships, expectations, and the conflicts that define their journey. The makers believe this unique take on love and relationships will resonate with audiences of all generations.
The ensemble cast also features Sanjay Mone, Shubhangi Gokhale, Akshay Tanksale, Gargi Phule, Gauri Sukhatankar, Sanika Kashikar, and Nisha Mane, along with guest appearances by Anand Ingale, Ananda Karekar, and Chetna Bhatt. The film’s cinematography is by Aniket Khandagale, and it will be distributed by Cinepolis.
The music album will be launched under the Himesh Reshammiya Melodies label, with lyrics by Mandar Cholkar, Mukund Bhalerao, and Vinu Sangwan, and compositions by Padmanabh Gaikwad and Ashish Khandal. Costumes are designed by Pallavi Patil and Gargi Patil, makeup by Kiran Sawant, background score by Tanmay Bhide, and editing by Rishiraj Joshi. Vishal Chavan serves as the executive producer, while Samyukta Subhash is the project head.
