Marathi Television Actress Akshaya Naik makes her Bollywood debut with ‘Greater Kalesh’!
Actress #AkshayaNaik, who became a household name through the popular TV show Sundara Manamadhe Bharli, has always stayed in the limelight — be it for her powerful performances, classy photoshoots, or engaging social media presence. The talented actress has now taken a big leap by making her OTT debut, marking an impressive transition from television to Netflix.
Akshaya made her OTT debut with Netflix’s recently released film Greater Kalesh. She plays a significant and striking role in this family drama, which beautifully captures the emotional complexities within every household. Her portrayal in the film has been appreciated by audiences and critics alike.
In Greater Kalesh, Akshaya plays the character “Pankhuri,” and the film is currently trending at No. 1 globally on Netflix. Every actor dreams of working in Bollywood at least once, and this project has turned that dream into reality for Akshaya — making her Bollywood debut a superhit success!
Speaking about her first OTT debut, Akshaya shared,
> “I always wish to take one step forward and explore something new. For me, no work is small, but this project came my way because of that very desire to do something different. Working with Netflix is a huge deal for any artist, and I never imagined that my first Bollywood film would premiere on such a massive platform. It truly feels special, and with the film trending at No. 1 right now, it feels like I’ve received the best Diwali gift ever!
> I’ve been following Terribly Tiny Tales for many years and always wanted to collaborate with them. With this project, that wish came true too! I had manifested both TTT and Netflix — and it’s amazing how they came together for my debut. I was the only new actor among the cast, as everyone else had worked together on earlier projects, yet not once did they make me feel like an outsider. Though my role is small, it holds great importance, and for that, I’m deeply thankful to our director Aditya Chandiok and writer Ritu Mago. They beautifully transformed a typical Marathi girl into a typical Delhi girl! Working alongside talented co-actors like Eisha Chawla and others, who are not only good performers but also wonderful human beings, made the whole experience unforgettable.”
Having proven her talent yet again, Akshaya Naik’s Bollywood journey has kicked off with great promise. Going ahead, she is expected to balance both Marathi and Bollywood projects — continuing to charm audiences across platforms.
