Maysabha’ to be screened on 9th January at the Asian Film Festival!

Film enthusiasts’ attention is set on the 22nd Third Eye Asian Film Festival, which will begin in Mumbai from Friday, January 9. With films in different languages from over fifty countries included this year, the festival promises a cinematic treat for movie lovers.
A major highlight of this year’s festival is the films of Marathi artists. This includes director Rahi Anil Barve’s much-talked-about upcoming Hindi film ‘Maysabha’, the recently released ‘Uttar’ by director Kshitij Patwardhan, and ‘Gondhal’ by director Santosh Davkhar, among other works. The festival will open with the screening of the FIPRESCI Jury Award-winning Indonesian film ‘On Your Lap’ (Pangku).
The selected films will be screened at the Mini Theatre of P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy, Prabhadevi, and at Cinepolis, Lake Shore Mall, Thane. At the festival, renowned director Padma Bhushan awardee Sai Paranjpye will be honored with the ‘Asian Film Culture Award’, and director Uma da Cunha will receive the ‘Satyajit Ray Memorial Award’. In memory of the late Sudhir Nandgaonkar, this year’s special award for film writing will be presented to film scholar and curator Minakshi Shedde.
