Nitu Joshi’s Miam Charitable Trust Celebrates Durga Puja With Gadchiroli Tribals!

From cultural unity to education and de-addiction campaigns, the festival becomes a ray of hope in Maharashtra’s remote region, supported by Surjagad Ispat. In the remote and underdeveloped district of #Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, a unique cultural initiative has drawn widespread attention. Social worker Nitu Joshi, Founder of Miam Charitable Trust, organized a grand Durga Puja celebration for the tribal community. Founded by Joshi in 2022 in Mumbai, the NGO has rapidly grown into a force for social change, working across multiple sectors of upliftment. The initiative was proudly supported by Surjagad Ispat.

For the first time in the region, the Durga Puja festival was celebrated on such a large scale, bringing together people of diverse backgrounds. A special highlight was Sindoor Khela, the traditional Bengali ritual, which further underlined the message of unity in diversity.

Children and Youth Take the Center Stage : The event witnessed active participation from children, who not only enjoyed the festivities but also delivered strong social messages. Students recited poems centered on pledges to give up alcohol and drugs, leaving a deep impact on the audience. A fair was organized where children were treated to magic shows and cultural performances, making the atmosphere vibrant and joyful.

Focus on Education and De-addiction : During the celebrations, Nitu Joshi announced that computers would be donated to students on the final day of Navratri, an initiative that promises to significantly boost education in Gadchiroli’s tribal belt. Alongside this, Miam Charitable Trust is running a sustained anti-addiction campaign, educating children and youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and encouraging them to choose a healthier path.

Multi-Dimensional Social Work : Since its inception, Miam Charitable Trust has been committed to uplifting tribal children and youth. From supporting orphans and assisting students preparing for competitive exams to distributing free books among children of farmers and tribal communities, the trust’s efforts are noteworthy. The NGO has also been actively working in the field of water conservation, plantation, and animal support, further broadening its contribution to society.

A Message of Harmony and Hope : What made this Durga Puja celebration truly special was the way it united people of all faiths and backgrounds under one roof. The festival became a symbol of cultural harmony, devotion, and social responsibility.

In a district often associated with Naxalism and backwardness, the efforts of Miam Charitable Trust and Nitu Joshi, supported by Surjagad Ispat, have introduced a fresh narrative – one of hope, progress, and unity.
