Prathamesh Parab debuted marathi films with ‘Balak Palak’ but with ‘Timepass’ he rose to stardom. He has always entertained the audience with his quality films. In 2019, his film Takatak hit the bulls eye at the box office. Now it’s gearing up for a World Television Premiere on Zee Talkies on 26th July, ‘20. Prathamesh Parab spoke to Cinebuster. Excerpts…..
‘Takatak’ did extremely well at the box office and won many awards, What was your reaction ?
Takatak is a very special movie for me. I expected people to like this movie but I didn’t think it would be such a huge hit. The audience just fell in love with Takatak, which is why Takatak was able to earn so much at the box office. I still remember, we did a lot of promotion the day before Takatak was screened. I came home at night and hit the bed and when woke up in the morning, there were 25 missed calls. Everyone told me all the shows are running housefull. The 9 a.m. show was not expected to be housefull, but it did. We really enjoyed the success of the movie. We all, the entire cast and crew, celebrated the success of the movie, watching the film with the audience. Watching ‘Housefull’ board at the theatre was most satisfying and engrossing.
What do you think is the definition of love? How do you relate to your character in real life ?
Love without expectation is much stronger. Ganesh Baburao Thoke from Takatak also feels the same. Without any expectation, he stands firmly behind his girlfriend, Mini. To love and be with a person without expecting anything in return is my definition of love.
What does your character‘s, Ganesh Baburao Thoke’s, advice to viewers, in these difficult times ?
On behalf of Ganesh Baburao Thoke, I would like to tell all my Single friends to not to worry. Wherever your ‘Mini’ is, stuck in lockdown, will come around after these corona-infected times. You are destined to meet her, so just chill and have patience. When you meet her, after the lockdown, then you can shower your love double, triple times. She is bound to get impressed. Also never impose yourself on anyone.
Zee Talkies is having a “World Television Premiere” of Takatak. What you’ll tell the audience about this ? And how are you going to spend your day?
News about ‘Takatak’ world television premiere on Zee Talkies is mesmerising as Zee has huge viewership and the film would reach to the nook and corner of Maharashtra and other places around the world. Though it’s a sex comedy, I urge you all to watch this movie with your family, because there’s nothing vulgar in the film. About how I’ll be spending Sunday, 26th, i am going to spend it with my family watching Takatak. It’s a lockdown time otherwise i would have invited my entire extended family to my home for a grand get together. Takatak is a stress buster and everyone should watch it even if you are working from home.
Everyone is facing lockdown during Covid 19 pandemic. Any ‘Takatak’ moment during lockdown ?
Takatak is a marathi slang which means delectable, delightful, highly pleasing. My Takatak moment during lockdown could be shifting to my new abode during this period. Actually I was to shift before the lockdown was announced but I was getting interior designing done. But announcement of lockdown brought everything to a standstill but with during unlock phase I shifted to my new home and am enjoying it. Also I am going to enjoy the World Television Premiere of Takatak in my new home with my entire family. And I assure all the viewers that though ‘Takatak’ is a sex comedy, it’s not vulgar and could be watched with family.
