Producer Ravi Bhagchandka to Bring a Gripping Disaster Drama, ‘Bombay High’!

Cinema has the power to entertain, inform, and immortalize stories that might otherwise fade into history. Renowned producer Ravi Bhagchandka, known for backing impactful and unconventional projects, is set to bring audiences a film that combines scale, emotion, and reality. His upcoming project, #BombayHigh, is a gripping disaster drama inspired by one of India’s deadliest offshore tragedies.

The title Bombay High refers to the offshore oil field located in the Arabian Sea, a vital contributor to India’s energy sector. Decades ago, this region witnessed a catastrophic accident on an oil platform, resulting in devastating loss of life, significant environmental damage, and serious questions about industrial safety. While the disaster made headlines, the deeper human stories — of workers who fought for survival, rescuers who risked everything, and families who endured unimaginable grief — have rarely been told.

With Bombay High, Ravi Bhagchandka aims to give this forgotten tragedy the cinematic platform it deserves, ensuring the lives lost are honoured and remembered.

The film will be directed by Mahesh Narayan, an accomplished filmmaker known for his work in Malayalam cinema, including Take Off, Malik, and C U Soon. He is also known as a screenwriter, editor, and cinematographer, bringing a well-rounded cinematic sensibility to his projects.

Anubhav Chopra joins the project as writer, known for his work as a screenwriter and assistant director on films like Don 2, The Sky Is Pink, Dil Bechara and Rajma Chawal, as well as co-creating Netflix’s House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths, brings his storytelling expertise to the project. The film’s story concept, developed by Karan Paramjit Sharma, lays a strong narrative foundation that balances the human cost with the spirit of resilience, ensuring the disaster drama is told with authenticity and impact.

Ravi Bhagchandka Founder of 200NOTOUT Cinemas has built his career on telling stories that strike an emotional chord. He first rose to national prominence with Sachin: A Billion Dreams, the documentary-drama that captured the life and journey of cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar. More recently, he was one of the producers along with Aamir Khan Productions on Sitaare Zameen Par, a film rooted in heartfelt storytelling, which resonated with audiences for its emotional depth. His upcoming slate also includes the much-anticipated biopic of Yuvraj Singh, one of India’s most beloved cricketers.

Mark Benjamin, Creative Producer at 200NOTOUT CINEMAS, is excited to collaborate with Mahesh Narayanan on Bombay High, a project of scale and depth. With a successful stint at Viacom18, where he creatively produced acclaimed series like Murder in Mahim and Kaalkoot, he sees this partnership as the perfect next step in shaping compelling, high-impact storytelling.
