In the nineties Musical duo Jatin-Lalit had ruled the #bollywoodmusicindustry. Hailing from a musical family their other family members too are into music. Take for instance the case of #RaahulJatin, who is a son of #JatinPandit. Music runs in his blood and he is an aspiring singer. Here’s a tete-a-tete with Raahul jatin.

What kind of singer would you classify yourself as?

I would say, I’m still discovering myself in terms of, right off the bat. I can say, I probably sing romantic songs a little bit better.. it comes more naturally, the whole emotion than a high-energy party song does. But I would want to sort of discover myself a little bit more before I can say, hang on, this is what I would want to classify myself as because my first song was a very upbeat dance number and I found that pretty well later on. My songs were more romantic, I sang those pretty well. So I think as I said, I would want to discover myself more and then be like, yeah, this is the kind of genre that I’m going to classify myself as.

Singing and composing come naturally to you. What are you more inclined towards?

It’s probably in my genes and I have been learning from a very young age. My father used to teach me singing since I was 6 or 7. But yes I am more inclined towards composing. I would say it comes more naturally to me. Singing is also enjoyable.

How did you manage shooting for “Batao Na”? How did it happen?

I try to enjoy myself in every shoot. I try not to think too much about how I’m looking, how I’m doing. Because I feel like if you are having fun, what you feel is what the camera picks up. So if you’re feeling tired, if you’re feeling anxious, you’re feeling nervous, it will all be very visible on camera. But if you are having fun in the moment and you are enjoying yourself, that will get picked up by the camera tool. That is what we want in a music video. You obviously want to seem like you’re enjoying yourself. So that’s how I shot for Batao Na, That’s the mental attitude that I had. I just want to be in the moment and enjoy myself. And how did it happen? Well, we came up with the concept a few weeks prior and we found a location. We figured out the dates and just came up with the concept since, we have the line “Kaha Meri Jaana Tum”, this is something that a driver could say, so we decided to make the protagonist a driver. As for the term Batao Na, the line we came up with, I find this a line that everybody can relate to, especially if the guy likes a girl very much and has been pursuing her for a very long time. You will be like, “Batao Na, Do you also like me?”.

If you get a chance to Playback for an actor, who would that be?

I would obviously enjoy being very happy if I got to sing for any of the actors, but if you’d asked me one in particular, I’d be very happy. If I sing for Akshay Kumar Sir, because I enjoy his movies. I think he’s a brilliant actor. I look up to him from an overall perspective. He’s such a good example. In terms of work ethic, waking up on time, working out, not drinking, not smoking, being healthy. So I really look up to him and I enjoy his comedy movies very much. And so I would be very happy if I got to sing for him.

How would you describe your musical journey so far?

So far It’s been a learning experience. And I would say, I’ve not just grown musically, I’ve grown as a person. I think I’m going in the right direction and I would like to say that the thing about this journey is that you have to keep working hard and you have to try to be the best. I think a good way to look at it is be the best version of yourself that you can be, realize that you’re not going to be perfect from the very beginning and it’s okay to not be perfect. The goal is that you keep working and improving yourself, and keep getting better. My dad says, one of the things about this business is, that you never know when things are going to work out. So what’s important is that you’re always in the right direction, and by that I mean working hard and proving yourself. So far that’s pretty much what my journey has been. I’m getting better in all aspects, not just only social media but in my music and as a person. And when I mean, as a person I’m getting older, and getting more mature and wise. Yeah, I think it has been a good positive journey so far.

What are your Upcoming Projects?

There is a new song that I am very excited about. You know the best thing is that each song I release, I feel like this is my best one, like when “Batao Na” came out and it’s not just me, my couple of people, a couple of interviewers told me that you think this is your best song. Now, the next one that’s coming out… I feel this is going to be my new best song, and I’m very excited about this. We have to shoot it. So hopefully, you get all of that done and we have it ready to go and release it very soon.
