Freaky Friday 2

Review : Freakier Friday : A Crowd-Pleaser Filled With Humor, Heart, and a Touch of Magic!

#LindsayLohan and #JamieLeeCurtis return for another round of body-swapping chaos, but this time the fun — and madness — isn’t limited to them. Teenage daughters join in, doubling the comedy and the complications.

Anna (Lindsay Lohan) is a single mother to Harper (Julia Butters), a spirited high-schooler who is stubborn, moody, and often finds herself in trouble. After a spat with classmate Lily (Sophia Hammons) lands both girls in the principal’s office, their parents are called in — Anna for Harper, and Lily’s single father, Eric, for his daughter. Sparks fly between Anna and Eric, and six months later, they decide to marry.

There’s just one problem: Anna and Harper will have to move to London with Eric. Harper, deeply attached to her Los Angeles life, is completely against it. At Anna’s bachelorette party, she and her mother Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) receive a palm and tarot reading, brushing it off as harmless fun. Later, Harper and Lily visit the same fortune teller, who gives them a cryptic quote they barely consider — until the next morning changes everything.

Anna wakes up in Harper’s body, and Tess wakes up in Lily’s. With no idea how to reverse the switch, Harper (in Anna’s body) and Lily (in Tess’s body) concoct a wild plan to sabotage the wedding and avoid becoming one big blended family in London. What follows is a whirlwind of comedic misunderstandings, heartfelt family moments, and a gradual deepening of the mother-daughter bonds.

The film’s direction is one of its standout strengths. The pacing is spot-on, blending laugh-out-loud comedy with genuine emotional beats. Clever use of split screens and parallel shots makes the body-swap scenarios feel both believable and entertaining.

The writing strikes the perfect balance — witty without overplaying the jokes, heartfelt without becoming overly sentimental. It skillfully explores the generational misunderstandings between parents and teens, ultimately transforming them into moments of empathy and love.

Freakier Friday is more than a nostalgia-fueled sequel. It’s a warm, cleverly made family film that entertains from start to finish while keeping its emotional core intact. Disney once again delivers a crowd-pleaser filled with humor, heart, and a touch of magic.
