Review : Paddington In Peru is a well-balanced mix of adventure, comedy and emotions!
When a long weekend approaches, all we can think of is relaxing, spending time with our families and indulging in an entertaining movie. While selecting a child-friendly film is usually an uphill struggle, ‘Paddington in Peru’ is the perfect family entertainer that one can catch this weekend. With a well-balanced mix of adventure, comedy and emotions, the #DougalWilson directorial is an exciting watch for elders and kids alike.
The third instalment of the ‘Paddington’ franchise follows the story of Paddington (voiced by Ben Whishaw), a young bear who was born in the jungle, but moved to the city due to a turn of events. He lives peacefully in London with his family, consisting of Mr. Henry Brown (Hugh Bonneville), Mrs. Mary Brown (Emily Mortimer), Ms. Judy Brown (Madeleine Harris), Mr. Jonathan Brown (Samuel Joslin) and Mrs. Bird (Julie Walters). Their routine lives take an unexpected twist when a letter arrives from the Home for Retired Bears in Peru. The letter bears the sad news of the disappearance of Paddington’s Aunt Lucy (voiced by Imelda Staunton). With this, the Brown family sets off on an adventure through the Peruvian Amazon, searching for Aunt Lucy and uncovering several other mysteries along the way. The film also stars Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas and Carla Tous in pivotal roles.
‘Paddington in Peru’ is an absolute visual treat. The journey from the bright London landscapes to the mesmerizing Amazonian jungles is portrayed masterfully, with the help of stellar VFX. The CGI-made Paddington seamlessly fits into the live-action film, as the ensemble cast pulls off this adventure with some impeccable performances. While the members of the Brown family (Bonneville, Mortimer, Harris, Joslin and Walters) are at the centre of chaos, madness and amusement, Banderas and Colman deserve special mentions for their unmatchable timing and effortless acts. The film’s soundtrack is breezy and blends well with its narrative. Guided by a steady screenplay and a hilarious script, the movie is bound to produce laughs, especially among young children.
All said and done, ‘Paddington in Peru’ is a must-watch adventure comedy that will entertain families, while also teaching them some important life lessons. Whether you want to laugh, cry or just have a good time, ‘Paddington in Peru’ should be your go-to film this weekend.
