Review : Sam Raimi Delivers a Thrilling Ride with ‘Send Help’!

Sam Raimi delivers a gripping survival thriller with Send Help. Rachel McAdams is impressive as Linda, a hardworking office planner who has devoted years to her company and was promised a promotion by her former boss. However, when his lazy son Bradley (Dylan O’Brien) takes over, everything changes. He disregards Linda’s dedication, hands the position to his unqualified friend Donovan, and sends her to Bangkok instead.
When Linda protests, Bradley insists she join him, Donovan, and two other executives on the company’s private jet to finalize a major merger. During a stormy flight, Donovan humiliates her by playing an old Survivor audition video, mocking her so-called survival skills as everyone laughs. Moments later, disaster strikes—the plane’s engine fails and it crashes into the sea, leaving only Linda and Bradley stranded on a deserted island, surrounded by wreckage and wild animals.
Linda soon proves her worth, taking charge like a true Survivor pro. She builds a shelter using leaves and debris, collects rainwater, starts a fire by rubbing sticks together, and catches fish and small animals for food. Bradley, initially bossy and completely useless, gradually realizes that Linda’s skills are the only thing keeping them alive. Her resourcefulness saves them during animal attacks, brutal beach struggles, and several darkly funny, gross moments. The story keeps you guessing about whether they survive or if help ever truly arrives.
The film feels raw and immersive, making you feel as though you’re stranded on the island with them. While the excessive bloodshed feels unnecessary, it’s a familiar Sam Raimi trademark and doesn’t come as a shock.
Overall, Send Help is an entertaining and engaging watch one that starts strong and leaves you with plenty to talk about afterward.
