Review : The Running Man : An Enjoyable, High-Energy Entertainer!
The Running Man (2025), directed by #EdgarWright, is a fast-paced and stylish action film based on #StephenKings novel. Although the story feels reminiscent of Squid Game, the key difference is that here, the deadly competition is turned into a televised reality show watched by millions, whereas in Squid Game, it takes place in secret for the amusement of the wealthy.
The plot follows Ben Richards (#GlenPowell), a struggling blue-collar worker living in the slums with his wife and their sick daughter. With limited income and desperate to afford proper medical treatment, Ben’s wife considers taking on night shifts. Ben refuses to let her shoulder the burden and decides to take a far greater risk himself. He signs up for The Running Man, a brutal game show where contestants must survive for thirty days while being hunted by assassins known as “Hunters,” along with ordinary citizens who are rewarded for capturing them. The stakes are enormous a billion-dollar prize for the winner but no one has made it out alive before.
Dan Killian (#JoshBrolin), the charismatic yet ruthless executive producer and creator of the show, lures Ben in with promises of money and security for his family. The rest of the film focuses on how Ben battles impossible odds and tries to stay alive in a world driven by media frenzy and greed.
Visually, the movie is striking, with crisp cinematography, impressive visual effects, and well-executed action sequences. A light-hearted parody of the Kardashians adds humor and briefly eases the tension during the intense narrative. Although the story is somewhat predictable, it still keeps viewers engaged and delivers a solid adrenaline rush.
Overall, The Running Man is an enjoyable, high-energy watch a solid pick for action lovers, even if only for one viewing.
