Ryan Gosling’s ‘Project Hail Mary’ Scores Biggest Debut of Year!

As per global reports, the Ryan Gosling-led sci-fi epic debuted to a stellar US$140.9 million at the box office, marking the biggest debut of 2026. The film collected US$80.5 million in North America and an additional US$60.4 million across 82 international markets, reflecting strong audience interest worldwide.

Directed by acclaimed filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, _Project Hail Mary_ has also emerged as one of the strongest openings for an original, non-franchise film in recent years—a rare feat in a market dominated by established IP.

Beyond the box office collections, the Ryan Gosling-starrer has opened to excellent critical reception, holding a strong 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, along with an ‘A’ CinemaScore and featured with a 4.4 on Letterboxd, entering the Top 100 movies of All Time.

Project Hail Mary has played a key role in boosting overall global theatrical momentum, driving a notable increase in year-on-year box office revenues and reinforcing audience appetite for large-scale cinematic experiences.
