Sohum Shah is Mounting the Sequel, ‘Tumbbad 2’, as a Large-Scale Magnum Opus!

Sohum Shah’s Tumbbad was not only a film it was a cult classic that combined mystery, folklore, and horror elements seamlessly. Over time, it built a strong and loyal fan base, with its popularity soaring even further after its re-release in 2024, where it emerged as one of the highest-grossing re-released Indian films. The buzz for Tumbbad 2 has been at an all-time high, and recently, Sohum Shah announced Tumbbad 2 officially.

Expectations are now higher than ever, and it looks like Sohum Shah Films is leaving no stone unturned to deliver a cinematic experience like never before. An industry source reveals that Tumbbad 2 is being made on a much larger scale, with a focus on creating environments that are extremely realistic and aiming to surpass the original that became a classic.

As per an independent industry source, “Sohum Shah Films is recreating environments with extreme authenticity while also planning extensive real-location shoots, aiming to surpass the intricate detailing that made Tumbbad a cult classic. The makers are leaving no stone unturned, mounting the sequel as a large-scale magnum opus.”

It was also recently revealed that the shoot of the sequel will go over 200 days, and a massive set of 7-8 acres is being built in Mumbai, resembling a city, for the initial shoot of the movie. This indicates that Sohum Shah Films is creating a far more immersive experience for the audience, increasing the excitement for the much-awaited sequel.

Backed by Sohum Shah Films and Pen Studios, the film is slated to go on floors later this year. Tumbbad 2 is being spearheaded by actor-producer #SohumShah under his banner, Sohum Shah Films, in collaboration with Pen Studios, headed by veteran producer Dr. Jayantilal Gada. Pen Studios is known for backing blockbuster films such as RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi.
