Actress #SomyAli, who runs a Miami-based #NGO called #NoMoreTears who helps with victims of domestic violence and rape, says that children today are missing out on a lot of stuff, which the older generation enjoyed as kids, due to technological advancements.

“I believe there are disadvantages and advantages when it comes to technological progression. However, I do think our children, today, are missing out on basic activities I enjoyed tremendously. Something as simple as climbing trees to pluck mangoes, play cricket, play hopscotch and simply be in nature rather than scrolling social media and playing video games,” she says.

She adds, “I cherish that aspect of my childhood a great deal and feel very fortunate that I was able to experience those activities which I thoroughly enjoyed. Nothing beats climbing trees for mangoes and tamarind. And our children today should be exposed to outdoor activities by their parents. Once again, just like everything in life, it’s all about balance. Any habit, belief, task or even something like working out can’t be extreme because our bodies and minds need rest and peace.”
