Sonam Kapoor unites conservation and couture with an Erdem gown with the Godawan bird motif!

Bollywood star and global fashion icon Sonam Kapoor attended the London Fashion Week yesterday, for the Spring 2026 Ready-to-Wear showcase by British-Turkish designer #ErdemMoralıoğlu at the British Museum. It was a moment to remember as the fashion mogul marked the occasion with a personal gesture of advocacy, sporting a custom Erdem gown with intricate Godawan bird motifs. The Great Indian Bustard, lovingly known as the Godawan is now a Critically Endangered Bird on the IUCN Red List and the gown carrying intricate Godawan bird motifs in deep cobalt blue artwork seamlessly blended Indian heritage with contemporary couture, paying tribute to the extraordinary recovery of the Great Indian Bustard population — from 100 when the initiative began to protect the birds to 173 today through the efforts of Diageo India.

Known for her sartorial choices, Sonam’s collaboration transformed fashion into a storytelling canvas yet once again, spreading awareness for a cause close to her heart.
