Sumbul Touqeer says, “Ramadan is a very special and peaceful time for me”!
For actress Sumbul Touqeer, who is known for her roles in Imlie, Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon, and currently seen in Itni Si Khushi, Ramadan is not just about fasting. For her, it is a time full of peace, emotions, and spiritual connection. She says this holy month brings her closer to her faith and her family.
“Ramadan is a very special and peaceful time for me. It is not only about staying hungry the whole day. It is about gratitude, patience, and feeling close to Allah. It makes me slow down in life and think deeply. For me, Ramadan always feels like a reset for my heart and mind,” she says. She adds that spending this time with her father, Touqeer Khan, and her sister Saniya makes it even more beautiful. “We try to do everything together — from fasting to sitting for Iftar. That together time means everything to me.”
Talking about her childhood, Sumbul smiles as she remembers the simple Iftar moments at home. “One of my sweetest memories is sitting on the floor with my family, waiting for the Azaan. We had fruits, dates, and homemade food in front of us. My sister and I would keep checking the clock again and again because we were so excited. The moment the Azaan started, we would smile at each other before taking the first bite. That feeling of togetherness is still in my heart.”
She also remembers her first fast very clearly. “I was very young and very excited. I wanted to fast like the elders. My father told me I could stop if I felt tired, but I wanted to complete it. When I did, everyone appreciated me, and I felt so proud. That day made me feel grown-up.”
Over time, her understanding of Ramadan has changed. “As a child, Ramadan meant new clothes and tasty food. Now it feels deeper. It is about prayers, discipline, and being thankful. Even with work, we make sure the spirit of Ramadan stays alive at home,” she says.
