Uttar, a heartfelt story about the bond between a mother and her son, teaser released!
#KshitijPatwardhan, a well-known writer, marks his directorial debut with this film, Uttar. Every person shares an inseparable bond with their mother — one that begins even before birth. Though the umbilical cord is cut after birth, the emotional connection never breaks. A mother constantly plays many roles in her child’s life — nurturer, teacher, guide, and friend — always standing as both support and shadow. Because she alone truly knows what’s best for her child. Uttar explores this delicate, timeless relationship between a mother and her son through a contemporary lens.
Produced by Zee Studios and Jackpot Entertainment, the film stars the accomplished #RenukaShahane as the mother and #AbhinayBerde as the son, while #HrutaDurgule also plays a pivotal role. The film, which promises to capture the charm and depth of this universal bond, releases on December 12.In today’s age of technology, we often worry that while communication tools have multiplied, meaningful conversations have diminished. The teaser beautifully captures such a dynamic between a mother and her college-going son in a witty phone conversation. When the son, irritated by her caring questions, asks if he may hang up, the mother humorously replies, “You talk as if incoming calls cost money!”
This glimpse suggests that Uttar is a story of a loving mother who urges today’s fast-paced generation — used to instant food, instant Wi-Fi, and instant everything — to slow down a little. Kshitij Patwardhan, known for penning Marathi hits like Double Seat, Faster Fene, and Dhurala, as well as Hindi projects such as Singham 2 and the acclaimed web series Taali, has written the story and screenplay for Uttar. Speaking about the film, he said, “Motherhood is the most taken-for-granted relationship — it’s so close that we often overlook it. I wanted to craft something that views ‘mother’ as a person and prompts a fresh reflection on the mother-child bond. That’s how Uttar was born.”
Bhavesh Janvalekar, Business Head of Zee Studios Marathi, shared, “When Kshitij narrated the story, we immediately sensed its depth. The film reflects the emotional reality of today’s generation and will resonate with everyone. Though it’s a Marathi film, its emotions are universal.”
Produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal and Bhavesh Janvalekar from Zee Studios, along with Mayur Hardas and Sampada Wagh from Jackpot Entertainment, Uttar is set to release in theaters on December 12 under the Zee Studios banner.
