Today marks the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary O. P. Nayyar Sahib, a name that does not merely belong to the history of Indian music but lives vibrantly in its soul. On this momentous day, emotions run deep—of pride, reverence, gratitude, and an overwhelming sense of having witnessed greatness up close.
O. P. Nayyar was far more than a music composer; he was the heartbeat of an era. A rare and fearless genius, he rewrote the grammar of Hindi film music with his unmistakable rhythm, infectious energy, and joyful melodies. His compositions did not just entertain—they uplifted, energized, and awakened something deeply human. Even today, a single rhythm from an O. P. Shaan, another exceptional artist and beautiful soul, absorbed his wisdom with love and admiration. Through such artists, Nayyar Sahib’s inspiration seamlessly flowed into newer generations.”

As I reflect today, my eyes grow moist and my heart feels full. The bond, the laughter, the silences, the musical debates, and the affection come rushing back. These are lifetime experiences—impossible to forget, impossible to replace.”
