Ambabai

Vicky Wagh’s musical tribute with a social message, a rap song “Ambabai”!

Through “Ambabai,” director #VickyWagh highlights the struggles of folk artists who preserve our cultural heritage; the song gains traction on social media. After directing chartbusters like Avadhoot Gupte’s “Pavan Jevla Kay” and Gautami Patil’s viral hit “Cheez Lai Kadak,” director Vicky Wagh is back with his latest creation. On the occasion of Navratri, JSB Production has released “Ambabai,” a song written, composed, directed, and sung by Wagh himself. Shot in Kolhapur, the track is receiving appreciation from the audience. Featuring Karan Gaikwad, Neha Posarekar, Yogita Mane, Santosh Pakhare, and Vicky Wagh in key roles, the song has been produced by JSB Production.

Speaking about the concept, Vicky Wagh shares, “I wanted to create an energetic track for a long time. During Navratri, I began writing ‘Ambabai’ and the composition came to me naturally. We experimented with several voices but eventually, I decided to sing it myself. The song speaks about the devotees we often neglect or fail to respect – kinnars, sambal players, vasudevs, lavani artists, gondhalis, and jogtins who carry forward Maharashtra’s cultural legacy. ‘Ambabai’ is my tribute to them.”

He further adds about the shoot, “The entire team filmed continuously for 24 hours without sleep, powered by the energy of ‘Ambabai.’ The song conveys the message of respecting everyone, and the positive response from the audience assures me it will connect deeply. Just like my earlier songs, I request my listeners to shower ‘Ambabai’ with their love. Wishing everyone a blessed Navratri.”
