Yashoman Apte and Rumani Khare make their lead debut in the new Marathi commercial play “Lagli Paij?”

The Marathi commercial theatre scene continues to thrive with many impressive productions winning audience appreciation. Adding to this growing list is a brand-new play titled “Lagli Paij?” The play was officially announced on social media to mark ‘Marathi Rangabhoomi Din’ (Marathi Theatre Day). Popular television actor and youth favorite Yashoman Apte takes on the male lead, while actress Rumani Khare makes her professional stage debut as the female lead. The premiere performance of the play will be held on November 21 at 4 PM at Dinanath Natyagruh.

Produced by Prabhat Theatres, “Lagli Paij?” is presented by producers Mrs. Jyoti Kathapurkar and Nikhil Karande, along with co-producers Jyoti Patil, Priyanka Bisht, Rupa Karosia, and Manoj Mote. The play is written by Harshad Pramod Kathapurkar and directed by Ankur Arun Kakatkar. Alongside Yashoman Apte and Rumani Khare, the cast also features prominent actors Supriya Vinod and Shantanu Ambadekar. Notably, celebrated poet and lyricist Sandeep Khare returns to theatre by penning songs for this production, with music composed by Sai–Piyush. The play’s host (Sutradhar) is Santosh Shidam.“Lagli Paij?” explores modern relationships through the lens of love, ambition, and emotional complexity.

Rumani Khare, daughter of lyricist Sandeep Khare, has previously appeared in several films, but with this play, she marks her official entry into professional theatre. The story revolves around a couple, Aditya and Reva, where Reva has a habit of placing bets. One day, the two wager on the fate of their own relationship—what happens next forms the crux of the drama, which will only be revealed on stage.
