3 Years of ‘Jawan’: When Deepika Padukone Shared Heartfelt Words About Shah Rukh Khan!

Deepika Padukone-starrer ‘Jawan’ completes three years today. On this special occasion, let’s take a look back at what Deepika said about working alongside Shah Rukh Khan. Although Deepika’s role as Aishwarya Rathore was an extended cameo, her performance made one thing crystal clear: the length of a character never mattered to her. For Deepika, it has always been about the character’s presence and the impact it creates on the story.

Speaking about coming on board, Deepika said, “They gave me a complete narration and explained this very special part of Aishwarya. It didn’t matter to me how long the character was. What mattered to me was how much of an impact this character would have on the entire film. So for me, it was for two reasons: the first being that everyone knows my love for him (Shah Rukh Khan). Whenever he needs me, I will always be there for him.”

She further added, “But the film was so special that even if this role hadn’t come to me and was offered to any other actor, they would have happily said yes to it because it was about that vision. I think we all contributed to that vision. It didn’t matter how long, big, or small your role was. What mattered was the story we were telling and the impact this film would have on our audience’s lives.”

It must be said that what Deepika expressed in her statement was truly visible on screen. As Aishwarya Rathore, she emerged not just as a strong link in the film, but as its emotional backbone. From her powerful introduction to her deeply moving backstory, the character completely captivated the audience. It is no surprise that fans lovingly began calling her the ‘Soul of Jawan’.

Deepika’s affection for Shah Rukh Khan speaks for itself. Following Jawan, the iconic duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone is set to share the screen once again in King. Their electrifying chemistry has already been witnessed in ‘Om Shanti Om’, ‘Chennai Express’, ‘Pathaan’, and ‘Jawan’. As a result, audiences now have their eyes firmly set on their upcoming film, ‘King’.
