Writer-Director Dr. Nitin Kumar Gupta clarifies his stand on ‘Operation Sindoor’!
After the Indo-Pak war became a reality, through ‘Operation Sindoor’ India attacked terrorist hideouts based in Pakistan. There was a rush from opportunist filmmakers to use ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a film title, one of them being Writer-Director #DrNitinKumarGupta.
He has issued clarification in the matter which is appended below.
In times of national emotion, art faces a profound responsibility. The announcement of our film
has understandably raised questions about sensitivity and timing – concerns that weigh heavily
on our creative team.
While I have declined all interview requests, with today’s announcement of a ceasefire, I feel it
appropriate to now share my thoughts on the project.
The Vision Behind “Operation Sindoor”
Powerful stories emerge from powerful moments in history. “Operation Sindoor” follows the
electrifying transformation of ordinary women marked by tragedy into unstoppable warriors of
justice. This film isn’t a war documentary – it’s an explosive, high-octane action spectacle that
showcases feminine strength in its most formidable form.
Throughout my career—from creating “L.A.C.” as India’s first single-shot action film about the
Galwan Valley battle, to “Walk” which earned over 60 international awards portraying migrant
workers’ struggles—I’ve sought to capture human resilience against real-world backdrops.
“Operation Sindoor” represents the pinnacle of this creative vision.
A New Kind of Action Film
“Operation Sindoor” isn’t just about revenge – it’s about resurrection. This film will deliver
heart-pounding combat sequences combined with the emotional resonance of a revenge drama.
When the time is right, we believe this film will stand as a landmark in Indian action cinema –
one that honors the gravity of its context while delivering a powerful, adrenaline-fueled
experience that puts women at the center of a traditionally male-dominated genre.
Cinema at its best helps us process, remember, and understand our shared experiences
through the lens of human stories – and sometimes those stories are best told with the
breathtaking spectacle that “Operation Sindoor” will deliver.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nitin Kumar Gupta
