Freida Pinto to Play Lead in ‘Unaccustomed Earth’, An Epic, Soapy, and Culturally Vibrant Drama!
One of India’s OG international talents, #FreidaPinto is all set to lead Netflix‘s Unaccustomed Earth, a new drama series executive-produced by John Wells (The Pitt, Shameless).
As reported by Deadline.com, Pinto will play Parul Chaudhury in the 8-episode series from showrunner, writer, and executive producer Madhuri Shekar (3 Body Problem, The Nevers).
Inspired by Jhumpa Lahiri’s short story collection of the same name, Unaccustomed Earth is an epic, soapy, and culturally vibrant drama about a tight-knit Indian American community navigating love, desire, and belonging. Rich with nuance, passion, and unforgettable characters, the series invites you into the elite and insular Indian-American community of Cambridge, MA.
When a star-crossed romance between a devoted wife and her long-lost love comes to light, a scandalous affair is born and new battle lines are drawn in this intensely interconnected immigrant community.
Wells executive produces via John Wells Productions’ overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, the show’s studio. Ritesh Batra, Jhumpa Lahiri, Nisha Ganatra, Erica Saleh, Erin Jontow, and Celia Costas also executive produce, with Batra directing episodes 101 and 102.
