Hombale Films celebrates third anniversary of the Blockbuster ‘Kantara’!

A Movie which was a story of a small tribe in costal karnataka became the global sensation by it’s intense story telling and conviction in Indian stories. It was in 2022 when Indian cinema witnessed a film that arrived as a cultural phenomenon — Kantara. With its story rooted in the heartlands of India, the film brought India’s cultural significance to filmmaking and set a new benchmark in storytelling. While the film emerged as the biggest sleeper hit, it went on to become a box office blockbuster. Now, the film has completed 3 glorious years, and the makers celebrated the occasion with a video that takes us back in time, while the excitement for its much-awaited prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1, is at its peak.

The makers of Kantara marked the 3rd anniversary with a brief video of the film, also compiling glimpses of the prequel. While this has further piqued the excitement for the release of Kantara: Chapter 1 on 2nd October, the makers also wrote the caption –

Kantara starred #RishabShetty in a dual role, along with Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, and Achyuth Kumar. The film played a significant role in bringing Indian culture to the global map. It brought to the surface folklore, spirit-possession rituals, and divine belief systems, with the story centered around Bhuta Kola, a traditional form of worship practiced in the region. The film was a massive success and became one of the highest-grossing Kannada films of all time. At the 70th National Film Awards, Rishab Shetty won the Best Actor Award, while the film received the Best Popular Film Award.

Now, after the mega success of Kantara, the stage is set for Kantara: Chapter 1, which is touted as the biggest film of the year. The film is set to release this week, and the excitement is indeed at its peak. It stands as one of Hombale Films’ most ambitious undertakings. The creative team includes music director B. Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, and production designer Vinesh Banglan, all of whom have shaped the film’s powerful visual and emotional narrative.

Moreover, Hombale Films is leaving no stone unturned in carrying forward the legacy of this 2022 masterpiece. The makers have curated an extensive war sequence for Kantara: Chapter 1 with national and international specialists, involving over 500 skilled fighters and featuring 3,000 people. This sequence was filmed in an entire town spanning 25 acres on rugged terrain, over a period of 45–50 days, making it one of the biggest sequences in the history of Indian cinema.

Scheduled for a worldwide release on October 2, the film will launch in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, and English, reaching audiences across languages and regions while remaining deeply rooted in its cultural core.
