De De Pyaar De 2

Review : De De Pyar De 2 : RomComotional!

For De De Pyaar De 2, which blends romance, comedy, and emotions in equal proportions, I have coined a new word for this delightful mix: “RomComotional.” In the first instalment of De De Pyaar De, a wide age-gap romance blooms between #AjayDevgn and #RakulPreetSinghs characters. He is 52, she is 25. He is a divorcee, and naturally, his ex-wife and children do not approve of the relationship.

The story progresses in De De Pyaar De 2, where Ayesha revisits her parents, who predictably disapprove of Ashish as their prospective son-in-law. Ashish (Ajay Devgn), a London-based businessman, travels to India to meet his girlfriend Ayesha’s (Rakul Preet Singh) parents, played by R. Madhavan and Gautami Kapoor. Rajji Khurana is against this age-gap relationship and brings in the charming Sameer (Meezan Jafferi) to woo Ayesha instead. This puts Ashish and Ayesha’s love through its toughest test. How their relationship survives these challenges forms the crux of the story.

The premise is strong, and the screenplay is smartly crafted. The dialogues are witty and evoke genuine laughter. However, the second half leans heavily on emotions, which somewhat disrupts the comic rhythm. The production values are high, and the cinematography beautifully captures the rich, earthy landscapes. The director ensures the narrative remains engaging, offering cinematic surprises at just the right moments.

Ajay Devgn plays his age gracefully on screen and delivers a pitch-perfect performance, excelling especially in emotional scenes. Jaaved Jaaferi is brilliant, and his comic timing is impeccable. Rakul Preet Singh looks lovely and confident, delivering a measured performance that showcases her versatility. R. Madhavan stands out as the protective father, his expressive eyes convey more than words ever could. He emerges as the film’s true performer. Meezan Jafferi looks dashing and gives a decent performance. The supporting cast, including Gautami Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, and Suhasini Muley, contributes well to the narrative.

De De Pyaar De 2 is engaging, enjoyable, and certainly worth a one-time watch.
