The Devil Wears Prada 2 Hosts a Starry Fashion Night!
The red carpet has been rolled out, the spotlight’s on, and the Runway is ready to host the biggest fashion event of the decade this week! 20th Century Studios is all set to bring The Devil Wears Prada 2 to India on the big screen from 1st May, and the country marked the occasion in true Runway style – full of glitz and glamour. Ahead of its grand release, Mumbai hosted a star-studded evening where iconic cinematic legacy met high-end couture, bringing together the biggest names from India’s fashion and film fraternity in a night that was as global in ambition as it was deeply rooted in Indian craft.
Set within Jio World Plaza, Mumbai’s leading luxury destination, the evening came alive in a setting perfect for a fashion moment of this scale, bringing together global cinema and couture through an exclusive preview and a standout runway showcase.
Acclaimed Indian designer #RahulMishra hosted a special fashion showcase, paying tribute to the eagerly awaited sequel and to the enduring cultural legacy of The Devil Wears Prada, a story that has shaped fashion conversations for nearly two decades. As anticipation for the film builds, the excitement translates seamlessly onto the runway, turning the evening into a stylish celebration of one of fashion’s most iconic franchises.
Intricately curated and deeply cinematic, the couture pieces echoed the film’s lasting influence on fashion. Adding to the glamour, legendary supermodels like Sheetal Mallar, Dipannita Sharma, Carol Gracias, Ujjwala Raut, Archana Akil Kumar, Sonalika Sahay, Lekha Ananthraman, and Dino Morea joined a new generation of models on the ramp, creating a compelling blend of eras. As faces who helped take Indian fashion to the global stage, their presence made the evening nothing short of a fashion lover’s dream in the presence of film and fashion industry guests that included Karan Johar, Tamannaah Bhatia, Nachiket Barve, Soha Ali Khan, Dia Mirza, Babil, Nimrat Kaur, Sunny Leone, Huma, Shibani Dandekar and many more.
To elevate the experience, a specially curated cocktail from Grey Goose flowed through the evening.
Rahul Mishra, who has consistently championed Indian craftsmanship on the world stage as the first Indian designer to showcase at Paris Haute Couture Week, infused the evening with both scale and soul. Rahul shared, “The Devil Wears Prada has always stayed with me, not just as a film, but also as a reminder of how fashion shapes identity and aspiration. As a designer, you’re constantly balancing creativity with the realities of the industry, and the film reflects that in a very relatable way. Through these specially curated pieces, I’ve sought to translate the film’s spirit which is shaped by my admiration for Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt. In a way, this is me celebrating the film, the fashion, and the joy of creating iconic moments.”
To lend a fitting touch of class and luxury to the occasion, film’s global partner Mercedes-Benz powered the evening as the event sponsor.
A 20th Century Studios film, The Devil Wears Prada 2, releases in cinemas across India on 1st May. Nearly two decades after redefining fashion on screen, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel — back in the high-stakes world of New York City and the iconic Runway Magazine. Directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, the film is produced by Wendy Finerman, with Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and Aline Brosh McKenna serving as executive producers.
