Teaser of ‘Bandkhor’, a powerful tale of six women and their rebellious journeys, unveiled!

#MaheshManjrekar is known for bringing thought-provoking and realistic subjects to the screen with his distinctive directorial style. In recent years, he has continued to explore diverse themes through films and projects across the entertainment landscape. After Junya Furniture, which addressed a socially relevant subject, the filmmaker is now set to present ‘Bandkhor’, a film that explores a woman’s self-respect, independence, ability to make her own choices and courage to stand up against injustice.
Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, ‘Bandkhor’ revolves around six women and the struggles that shape their rebellious journeys. Challenging the conventional notion that women should simply adjust to circumstances and remain silent, the film focuses on women who choose to raise their voices for their rights, dignity and existence. The teaser, which was recently unveiled, has already generated considerable curiosity among audiences.

The film features Chhaya Kadam, Priyadarshini Indalkar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Pooja Katurde, Titeeksha Tawde and Nityashree Gyanlakshmi in pivotal roles. While the teaser offers glimpses into the lives of the six women, it leaves several questions unanswered. What circumstances have brought them together? What struggles are they facing? And what prompted them to rebel? These questions have heightened anticipation around the film.

The six characters represent courage, self-determination and the willingness to challenge the boundaries imposed by society. What lies behind their rebellion, where their journey begins and the challenges they encounter will unfold when the film hits theatres.

Talking about the film, director Mahesh Manjrekar says, “‘Bandkhor’ is not merely a film centred around women. The situations these six women go through will remind audiences of women in their own families and surroundings. Every woman has her own story and her own set of challenges, as well as her own way of dealing with them. The women in ‘Bandkhor’ do not succumb to their circumstances; they choose to confront them. That is why I feel the film should also be watched by men with their mothers, sisters, wives, daughters and friends.”

Produced by Sanjay Shetye’s Vinson Graphic Production and presented by Satyasai Films, the film has dialogues penned by Irawati Karnik. The story of these six women, their struggles and their journey of rebellion will arrive in theatres on September 24.
