20 Years Of Lage Raho Munna Bhai: Rajkumar Hirani Films Celebrates A Classic Where The Laughter, Love And Gandhigiri Still Feel Relevant!
Rajkumar Hirani is one of the biggest filmmakers in Indian cinema, known for an incredible slate of blockbusters, with many of his films going on to become cult classics. One of his most loved and iconic works, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, marks 20 years of its release today. Starring Sanjay Dutt as Munna Bhai and Arshad Warsi as Circuit, the comedy-drama served as a spiritual sequel to Munna Bhai M.B.B.S..
To celebrate this incredible milestone, Rajkumar Hirani Films, the makers of the classic, took to social media to share a special carousel celebrating its timeless themes of love, friendship, and “Gandhigiri”. They shared how the film changed something in all of us—making kindness powerful, giving a voice to people, making Gandhi relevant in a new way, and reminding us to believe in the power of goodness.

Lage Raho Munna Bhai follows Mumbai gangster Munna Bhai, who falls for radio jockey Jhanvi, played by Vidya Balan, and pretends to be a history professor specializing in Mahatma Gandhi. After beginning to see visions of Gandhi, Munna embraces truth, love, and non-violence, giving birth to his own philosophy of “Gandhigiri”. The film blended comedy, romance, and emotion with a meaningful message, winning hearts and becoming a major box-office success. The film also featured a talented ensemble cast including Boman Irani, Jimmy Sheirgill, Dia Mirza, and several other memorable actors.
